X5 50i vs RR Sport
Did any forum members consider the RR Sport? I have not driven the RR yet but like to hear some feed back from people have has driven both. I have a feeling that the X5 tech is better than RR. As far as price the RR is about $10-12k more than the X5 (the way I optioned).

Quoted a lease for RR and it was more than 50% than the lease for a X5 with the same MSRP. All I heard about RR is that you should always buy them in pairs: you drive one and use the other one to get spare parts you will need all the time to fix the one you drive. Reliability is abismal!!!!

I wanted the RR sport at first, in fact I did not even consider the BMW X5. I went to Range Rover Orlando and walked around in the showroom and lot for over 30 minutes before my wife had to storm into someones office and tell them we wanted to buy a car (they were busy watching a football game or something). Anyway long story short they did not have any sports on their lot to test drive. They did have a $140,000 autobiography they were prepping for a buyer that we could walk around. They said every range rover is custom built to order and then they will receive the vehicle in 2-3 months. They said they were backordered and not sure how long it would be. We walked out and my wife suggested we stop in at the BMW dealership just to see what they had, and here we are!

Taking aside the reliability and specification the BMW wins hands down. |

Though not the new versions, I've had both. The RR Sport (supercharged) was much more fun to drive, better looking and IMO slightly smaller/better boxy size.
With that being said, the reliability is really a challenge. You can almost not understand without living through it. The RR would be in the shop every 30-90 days sometimes for several weeks. On top of that, the service fees (oil/breaks) were astronomical. I believe somewhere in the $2k for every 10k miles range... Lease rates are generally 30-40% more than a BMW. Luckily I'm not a fan of the new larger and more rounded RR. Other than individuality it makes little sense. |

Have had a X5M and X5 40d previously. Just purchased a new Range Rover Sport Supercharged Dynamic. It comes here with a 5 year 100000km motorplan. The range rover sport is an awesome SUV. Off-road the X5 cannot compete and on road the range rover has a much better ride, much better exhaust note. Only downside is the infotainment unit which is way behind the idrive in my M5

£10k difference in the uk like for like spec for my build, when you factor in discounts, or lack of discount, on the RRS!
The old RRS didn't drive anywhere near as well as the E70. Not sure about the current one, as deadbuck said, the dealers don't want to know, bordering on blatant arrogance. Funny how their attitudes have changed since the ford ownership days.... Tata must have a global sales policy to withhold test drives and interest in selling, to the point that buyers simply must have one. Not me though - they look beautiful but u need a 2nd car unless you're very lucky. |

It's definately better than the E70. I will be trying the F15 when they arrive here end of this month, but I doubt it will be better than the new sport, but we will see once test drive is complete

Performance is very good, if you put it in dynamic mode it flattens the ride, virtually no body roll at all. Has a similar ride to a Porsche Cayenne. Ride is somewhere between the hard ride of a M sport and a normal X5. You can get good speed out of corners and it handles the twisty roads quite well. The dynamic model comes standard with torque vectoring like the Cayenne Turbo. It is really a vast improvement over the old sport, really day and night change

Thanks for all the responses. My fear really is the reliability and maintenance because as some of you have mentioned it is very expensive and always in the shop. I hope the new RR's are better but I have a feeling BMW is a bit more reliable and the 4 yr service inclusive is a great selling feature.
Comments about the dealer experience sounds like the local Audi dealers. Arrogant and stuck up sales people with 0 customer service. This is why I would not consider an Audi unless they have better service. On another note not sure why every one is saying Audi looks better inside and out as well as having great interior materials. I personally think the opposite. Exterior and interior is boring and materials are nothing to write home about. Sorry got a little off topic. |

Yip, the GT3 is awesome. Here the price of the GT3 is almost double that of the approx price of the M4. I had a 991 Carrera 4s which was awesome but eventually traded it for the M5. 911 was a great weekend car, M5 was even a better everyday car

Ha funny. I have never owned a British car but have always hear negative comments about reliability. Is it really that bad compared to other countries?
