EAS,
Bought my Cool Carbon Brake pads from you for my car three weeks ago. They have been on the Coupe' for two weeks. After proper bedding in, they are awesome. Thanks for a good product and the discount... |

Yes, but not very hard yet. I only had time to do 10 laps.
The May event will be the time that really works them. For the street, they grab better than stock, even cold. Less dust and the dust is not black but the color of the wheels. The only thing I really notice is that when they are cold and at very slow speeds, I feel and slightly hear a very low pitched 'groan'. That is not the right explanation but close enough. Sorta like when you take off with a lot of rust on the rotor.. but this happens ONLY when they are stone cold. Half a mile down the road and the sound goes away. My wife can't hear it. I just know every little sound the car makes now... its just different..... |

Are these a generic fit or a model-specific fit?

I think these were specific fitment, but I could be wrong.
When I took the OEM pads off, I compared the two. With the execption of variations in pad design, the backing plates and such looked the same sizes. They don't sqweak or chatter.... |

My brakes worked really well. They did not fade at all, that I could detect and I did not have any of the 'spongy peddle' feel...
I had flushed my complete system with ATE a couple of weeks before the event when I when I swapped my CDV. I know BMW will do it but it was right at the two year brake fluid change schedule so I did it myself... The only thing that I consistently found with the pads is after several laps and the brakes heated up, I would get a loud groan from them when I would 'brush' the brakes. They were silent under heavy braking. Yes, I properly 'bedded' them in. Kinda scarey the first time I heard it but after the session, I checked everything out and everything was fine. I still have a very small concern about my rotors. I want them to last.... The Cool Carbons are supposed to be very easy on rotors, compared to dedicated track pads.. Yesterday was the first time (with all the rain) since I got back from the track on Sunday to really look at the brakes/rotors. Everything looks shipshape.. |

Thanks.
These sound like a great compromise pad for those of us that only do 2-3 events a year.

Make sure you have a clay bar for after the event.
When I washed the car yesterday evening, I found lots of little black marks from the rubber that was flung off the tires of the cars. The only way to get them out was using a clay bar. Easy.. They really show up on the AW cars, unlike darker cars.. |

This is almost certainly caused by the drilled rotors combined with a slightly different (and more functional) pad material than stock.

Yes, I quickly figured out that the groan was related to the holes in the rotors. I figure that the OEM pads did not groan since they are so soft.. I like the Cool Carbons. So far. Oh, I bought them from EAS... |
