Used M4 Low mileage or ZCP??
I am looking to buy 2018 used BMW M4.
I have two BMW CPO options at the moment: 2018 M4 without ZCP (7K miles) - 3 year warranty left - 59K 2018 M4 with ZCP (16K miles) - 2 year warranty left - 62K Should I go for the ZCP with more mileage or non-ZCP with less mileage and relatively cheaper? Does ZCP matter if I want to sell the car after 3 years. Thanks |

You may want to make sure you truly have as much warranty left as you're stating. CPO on both those cars would give you only 1 more year since you’re past the mileage on the original warranty (do a little searching on this forum and you’ll see what I’m saying - CPO is a 1 yr/unlimited mile warranty AFTER your original one is done either due to time or mileage and both of those is past the mileage on the original warranty).

Still seems crazy to me that the comp pack (originally a $4750 option) makes a car with over twice as many miles still cost $3k more.
What are the other differences between the cars? Just the comp pack? |

Test drive them both over bumpy roads.
I came from a non-M background and I personally found the regular M car ride very firm to begin with. I don't think I would want an even firmer ride as a daily which the ZCP will have due to firmer suspension and larger diameter wheels. |

I had a 2016 regular M3 and then a 2017 Competition pack car which I drove for three years. You want the Competition pack car. I had the active suspension on the 2017 and it was fine as far as comfort.
The comp pack car is not necessarily faster but it delivers power in a much smoother more linear way. Much improved. Then there are the obvious cosmetic bits. just my 2 cents. Last edited by NewM3driver; 05-01-2020 at 07:55 AM.. |

Just to let you guys know that I will be moving from 2017 530i to M4. I have test driven the one with ZCP but I haven’t driven the regular one yet to compare the comfort of the ride.

Yes just the competition package. The one with ZCP is alpine white and the regular one is mineral grey. Both have executive package.

How do you guys compare the comfortness of the ride on a bumpy road? I heard ZCP is not that comfortable with 20inch wheels and stiffer suspension especially if you’re using M4 as a DD.

It will not be as comfortable as your previous drive. I DD my m4 zcp, it is comfortable most of the time but you are expect to experience some uncomfortableness on roads in bad condition. Overall my DD experience will keep me DDing it.

I would choose the zcp but you need to negotiate those prices, you can get a 2020 likely in the mid-upper 60s, 2 years newer with 7-16k less miles... someone just bought a smb comp pckg 2020 m4 (used for 1 month) for $66K with 500 miles

doesn't really matter. but sounds like you wont modify the car and like having a warranty. So i'd go ZCP all things being equal. it will help slightly on resale, but zcp cars aren't exactly rare like they used to be for previous generation. the CS is basically the new ZCP.
if you are modding then yeah zcp is pointless.

I am looking for 2018s and 2019s in 50-60s range. I was not able to find a 2020 model in mid 60s range yet. Still looking !!

I find the competition package with the 20 inch wheels totally comfortable on bumpy roads. I'm always surprised when I hear people talking about a comfortable ride in an M3. It won't be like your five series, but I don't know that it's significantly more bumpy you're uncomfortable with the 20 inch wheels versus the 19th. My winter wheels are 19 and it doesn't feel that much different to me. But I enjoy the bumpiness and roughness of the ride, which is why I bought the car
