Something in windshield

I just picked up a new 18 X5 last week. Did a full days polish on the paint and interior clean as the dealer sucks at that. The windows especially the windshield won’t come clean. I’ve clay barred. Clay mitt. Scrubbed my ass off and still looks like it’s dirty. It almost looks like it is in the glass??? Weird I know but before I go to the dealer and see what can be done. Any tips or is this a commonly seen thing. Thanks

I had an issue with my windshield when I first got my F15. Seemed dirty and I could not clean it even with a clay bar. My detailer advised me to scrub it with steel wool and a lubricant (I used glass cleaner). Worked like a champ.

Steel wool, clay bar. A few hours of scrubbing and whatever it is will not come off. I have an app at the dealer to have them asses it. I only have 550 km on it.

My glass has this burr in the plastic laminate between the top and bottom glass. It looks like a lump of glue. It doesn't seem to have affected my glass at all; it did bother me quite a bit in the beginning since I couldn't "clean it off" either.

I had the same in my F10 and now my F15; the glass gets pitted and little dots accumulate on the surface in time. As if all little debris hitting it leaves a miniature crater. When you touch the glass, it feels smooth to touch.

Maybe it happens on the transport here. But I bought a new car. Should have an undamaged screen

My ‘17 (purchased new) also appears to have something within the glass. It was a PCD (performance center delivery) so it sat outdoors for a month prior to delivery.

After several visits to the dealer and being told it was sandblasted from road debris ( I laughed at the service advisor as I showed him the front of my flawless paintwork and headlights. , amazing how those rocks are so special they only hit the windshield) after that exchange I was told to come back as a top BMW rep was visiting the shop. I polished my X up and took it in. As soon as the guy sat in the seat he said Replace it. Apparently there was a issue with the manufacturer of the glass and several bmw were affected. So new glass on it way.

Awesome that they are changing it for you.
With only 500ish km on it your car would not have gotten a sandblasted window lol. Especially with no other damage to paint. Some advisers are idiots.

Good for you - that’s great BMW is acknowledging an issue exists.
