Can someone enlighten me what is this port for on my 50i Msport....??
Please see the picture below, I just found out this extra port beside the parking sensor in the front. I can't find anything on the build sheet or VIN# search.
My guess would be a block heater or an external battery charger, But with what cable? Someone please advise. Thanks |

Looks like it might be for one of the DEFA charging or heater kits.
Port looks similar. http://old.defa.com/en/automotive/wa...argerkit_1204/

Here’s a shot in the dark but might work. Maybe check battery voltage and see what it’s at, then plug in a charging cable to the port and check voltage again. Should go up if it’s charging.

It’s aftermarket that the Calgary dealers install in all x5s.

Thanks bro, that helps a lot. Have you tried it before? I didn't know our dealer has such a good heart to help us prevent the damn cold weather...

Yes I have used it a lot, the x5 can sit for days in the winter, that is hard on the battery.
That don’t have that good of heart you paid for it.... but it cuts down on the complaints they get when you get a low battery warning.

Here are the details of the system you might have.
http://bmwwidget.ca/Battery.aspx
https://www.defa.com/electrical-preheating/ It's not always pre heat and battery tender. It could be any option you choose. $800 Canadian plus tax installed at dealer. |
