Need Honest Opinion on H&R Super Sport Springs
OK, So my new wheels come in tomorrow. 20 inch Stance. I love the stock suspension, it rides great. I am going from a 335i slammed on KW-1 on stretched tires. I know with wheels I will need drop. I already ordered the H&R super springs. My good buddy is the GM at the local dealer. They will install my springs with alignment for $1,000.
I need some good opinions. How do the super sport springs ride? I have the money to switch out later with some good coilovers. Should I wait? |

Man, I know that's high, but its a 2015, I live in a small beach town of South Carolina. Should I just let some dumb Red neck shop do a spring install on a 2015 M4? If you know a good shop in the carolinas, feel feel to charm in bud.

Just trying to help. But that is a raping at 1k. I pay on average 400-500 for full coil over install with alignment. Im sure there is a major city in the Carolinas that have a reputable independent shop.

Why don't you just do them yourself? I did mine, and it was lowered for $100 (cost of alignment). There's nothing to it really

Lol, $1k!!!
FYI, it's typically two hours labor to install springs. So you're looking at ~$200 plus cost of alignment at an dependent shop. So $300. Dealerships charge ~$130/hour so everything should cost you $400 plus taxes. Springs is just one tiny piece of the suspension. The rubber bushings on links and joints, struts, shocks, roll bar, sidewall of the tire, alignment all work together to create the ride. I have a GT3 RS that I could drive daily if I had to. I laugh at these threads asking how bad the ride will be. Springs is just 1/5th of the suspension parts affecting the ride. In other words, you'll notice a small decrease in ride quality. Don't think twice about it. Do it. |

Bring it to my house ... I'll do it for $899.
Seriously I know you say you don't care but there are plenty of places that will do it for less than $1000. Hell the BMW dealership would be half that price.

Warranty pays 4 hours and customer pay is 5.2 hours so depending on their hourly rate, plus the dealership type alignment, $1000 is not too far out of the ball park. Does it include the springs?
Ride quality wise, don't expect much. I think it will be firm and very close to the bump stops so a bumpy ride on rough roads. Is there a reason going with the super sport instead of just the sport? The OE dampers weren't designed to handle much higher rates let along the low ride height. |
