"This car clearly had a propensity for breaking itself when launched, despite my launch counter showing 0. So when it came to it the car was babied off the line with 0 revs and sent. For those of you saying "it's just one it's just one" it took around 10 takes to get all 3 cars launched correctly, so it would've taken its toll if repeatedly launched. That may not bother you but if so you've a much larger wallet than I do."

The interesting part is the GT-R is an 11 year old car, and it's still considered relevant even today.

Nissan can die a slow painful death for all I care. It's because of Carlos Ghosn that the R35 GT-R even existed at all. Nissan & Japan Inc. tried to screw over Carlos Ghosn to stop a merger with Renault, and in the process ended up completely screwing themselves.

Even if Nissan had the money they'd ruin it, they just don't know how to make good vehicles anymore. Just look at how bad the Q50/60 is in comparison to its predecessor the G35/37, a great vehicle, I use to call them Japanese BMW's it was such a great driving car. Sadly all of Nissan's good vehicles are the ones they haven't touched in a decade (Frontier, Z370) or are discontinued (Infiniti M, FX)

This was entertaining and all, but I wonder if they simply do these because they have no other material to make something else, anything else.

I see it as having fun with different random cars, and being somewhat entertaining at the same time

The GTR didn't participate in this one as far as I'm concerned so perhaps one qualifying criterion should be, "we're going to launch it hard and repeatedly against something it might lose to... OK?" |

He was nice to give his car. He has zero launches recorded. I can understand why he restricted them.

What I'm saying is Matt should simply qualify that upfront. If it's a "no", then no thanks. The reality is this: what is the point of a drag race if you don't give the cars participating their best chance of winning. The GTR was an ornament so shouldn't have been included. |

What I don't understand is the result of Matt/CarWow using it under those constraints: drag race or don't... but if it's "don't", then don't do it all. There is one purpose to a drag race--I'm sure I don't need to define what it is--so compete or don't. The GTR didn't compete because the owner wasn't comfortable--that is their call and there's no argument here (no argument when it's not my car I mean). The end result, however, is that the GTR did not participate so why be there at all... hence the ornament comment. The GTR added no value whatsoever. On the "buy him clutches"... To my mind, though, compete... or don't--half way is effectively "don't". |
