I live in Sunny California where it barely rains and I still have All season tires. Love those Continental DWS06! Even though they are DWS, I wouldn't trust them in snow.

Not to be a bad influence but if you can swing summer tires, you will not regret it. The car will feel, handle and perform much differently than all-seasons. Plus it will ride smoother.

If your concern is a handful of days where the temps are low or the uber rare snow you guys get there, I bet you can work around those anomalies. If you have something else you can drive on those rare days, summer tires are a no brainer.

If I had something else to drive, I definitely would. Snow isn't a regular enough occurrence to worry about. But it does hang at or below 45 enough. And if I was just to work and back, I could probably do figure it out. But I made two separate 500 mile round trips in January and February to see family in Nashville. Plus my in laws are 60 miles away, so that's close enough for year 'round visits.

If the G60 comes out, I don't like it, and I decide the next car will be another lightly used G30 then maybe an extra set will be worth it since it can span two vehicles.

Bridgestone RE050A summer

While I cannot comment on the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5 due to it being so new, the Asymmetric 3 is fragile like glass. Anyone that makes it through a set without experiencing failure, is in the minority.

Every G30 I've seen with 20" staggered RFT had the Goodyear Asymmetric 3, Pirelli PZero or Michelin PS3ZP. The Michelin is by far the best of the 3. Best riding, lowest noise and fairly long lasting when compared to the others.

I sure hope BMW does not ship cars with the Bridgestone or Dunlop you mention. Let that just be Tirerack showing alternatives.... Please, no!

I got the Pirelli all season on my 2021 540 m sport. Not one compliant. Quiet and handles a lot of quick bursts and turns with confidence. Only have about 6k miles but happy with them.

Never met a good year tire that I liked. They all sucked in the rain, never hooked and were always unpredictable.

Mine came with pirelli cinturato p7 all season. They're fine but pretty damn skinny, but they have worked well during some spirited driving. They have god awful reviews for snow driving….which really pisses me off. Thats the whole point going with an all season…to at least be decent in snow.

Those who got Conti all seasons…lucky dogs. Always had good luck with them.

same here! the only reason for all-seasons are for those day or two you really need to get home in the snow...not going to be easy with 523hp in the snow with bad tires.

Have Michelin Pilot Super sport in the stock fitment on my m550i and they are by far the best tire i've ever had. Immensely sticky and confidence inspiring, very quiet, great in the wet and damn do they look good with some tire shine.

They are expensive, and they do wear quicker than other summer tire, but they outperform almost anything out there

Mine came with Bridgestone Potenza S007 Run flat in 20s. Fronts were swapped for Michelin Pilot 4s after a pothole bubbled the front left. The rears are still original though getting low after 16000kms. The S007s wear quickly.

Based on tyre reviews I'm hoping to replace with Continental Sport Contact 7s when available. They were 10% faster than Pilot 4s in the wet and about the same in the dry so it's a big step up.

Downsized to 18” Michelin AS4. Plenty of grip for my driving style. I put on the original 20” wheels with staggered Goodyear summer tires once in a while, and it’s very clear that for my driving style there’s no upside to the summer tires.

Just curious, what kind of driving style is not compatible with summer 20's for you? I absolutely love the softness and grip of mine (non runflats) and I really don't drive it hard. It's a super comfortable ride.

so do you have 1 pilot and 3 potenzas or do you have 2 pilots and 2 potenzas?

i think they usually dont recommend different sets of tires on one car.

obviously its still drivable. maybe not a good idea in the rain etc?

I think it's ok to mix two different brands, but the same brand on each axle, but definitely not different brands on the same axle.

That said, I always run the same four brand and specs. I'm too OCD to mix brands.

I think it would be a great track test to run all the same tire, fronts differing from the rears, mixing fronts and mixing rear tires. I'd be very interested to see how lap times vary. Do it wet, do it dry. They would need to maintain the same class of tire all around. Just a curiosity thing....I'm surprised a car magazine or show hasn't done that one yet...or maybe they did and I'm not aware of it.

For those with run flat 19s on their M550s, what PSI are you using in the front and back tires?

38 front 35 rear - cold. I always follow the recommendations on that sticker in the door jam.

But in reality, this is what it is

20” Michelin PS4S non RFT surprisingly comfortable, grip is great on dry and wet.
18” Pirelli Sottozero 3 * RFT quiet and comfortable, feeling like non RFT, good grip in both dry and wet.

So I leased my car 2 days prior my customer, same 19" rims, but mine came with contis and hers with pirellis, both run flats. I have over 5K miles on my car and she did less than 4K. Today she came by with a bubble for the second time. Bad luck or different tire quality? 🤷🏻*♂️

Probably isn't a better tire than the Michelin ps4.

for both of the bubbles did the rims bend? or just bubbles both times?
