In the warmer weather it's windows down, no air deflector thingy. When it gets cool, the windows go up with no wind deflector thingy. When it gets cold, the windows go up and the wind deflector thingy gets put in.
When my wife is with me, the wind deflector is in regardless of temp - long hair. Side note for all the convertible owners - with that wind deflector gizmo in place and the windows up, there is almost no turbulence. I can (hypothetically - I haven't tried this obviously) drive 90mph and carry on a normal volume conversation. It's great in the cold weather. |

Any recommendations on a good wind deflector brand or model? Would you have a picture of yours with one attached? I've been thinking of getting one...

I too alway thought it was a bit strange. My guesses have been.
When I had my convertible, it was everything down. Man nothing like that feeling other than a motorcycle. Last edited by omasou; 06-27-2019 at 09:22 AM.. |

Nice pic! Who really cares if the windows are up or down. What bothers me slightly is the people who have the license plate frames identifying their car (saw a Maserati like that Monday, and a Rolls like that last year) or the M 135 badged(?) 1'er I saw over the weekend. M 135? Really??

Where I live, its common for it to be stupid windy much of the time - a consequence of being stuck way out in the North Atlantic I suppose. But anyway, just stopped in traffic on an otherwise warn sunny summer day, I could be experiencing wind gusts between 35 - 45 mph. Once you get going along in traffic add to that the effect of the car's speed, and you can get why I like to have the windows up while the top is down.
And when there is no wind, folks are like Keanu and say "whoa".

Always windows down when the top is down. Even on the freeway at 90+. Just turn the radio up. I keep a headband and ponytail tie on the shifter for whoever is with me. Wind deflector is always in place since I rarely put someone in the back. I keep it in place since I like to store stuff in the back seat and it keeps most of the wind out. I only take it down if I have to take a dog somewhere.

The only time my windows are up with the top down, is if I am on a phone call
As soon as the phone rings, I raise all windows. Finish the call. Lower the windows

I've owned many convertibles over many years, never once have I driven with the top down and windows up. Warm blooded here, as long as it's 50F or higher and my top goes down.
I always thought it looked funny seeing top down/windows up, but I'm sure there are some people who think I look like a douche driving too so I guess it all evens out. |

I actually forgot (when I posted above) the #1 reason why I drive with the top down and windows up - Because I'm on the phone. Our cars have bluetooth handsfree, so someone will call when you're driving around with the top down. You can pull over and put the roof on, or you can just wind the windows up and keep on driving. More often than not, if I'm doing less than 100kph with the windows up and the roof off, it's because I'm on the phone and want to hear what the other party is saying. |

Side observation: a few posters mentioned that they drive top down and AC on in hot weather. It's probably just me, but I just have a psychological block about wasting all that cool/cold air. If it's hot out, my car is sealed tight with AC blasting. YMMV. If ambient temp is good, all down, and no AC, Lol.

In my Vert I always rolled the windows up because of big ass diesel pickup trucks in traffic.
Damn exhaust would be blowing right in your face.
