Ordered rear Michilen Pilot Super Sport

My rear Pirelli p zeros nero's have just about worn out so from Tirerack i bought 2 super sports 255-30-19 very cheap compared to australian pricing of around $1000each
Tire rack
$330 each
$285.29 SHIPPING FEDEX
TOTAL $945.29
That's about 50% cheaper
Bloody 19'' tyres are expensive.

Should have shared with someone on shipping...i'm sure someone would need just replacement for the rear tires. would be cheaper.

Yes the only problem is custom and gst fees is likely once its over $1000 not shipping cost, i was lucky last time when it was over $1000 in goods and did not charge me for customs or gst.
My front tyres are in very good shape, tuned 335i and monster torque doesn't help rear tyres that much.

Fed Ex normally don't bother with the customs paperwork if you are within 5% of the $1000 limit. Anything over that though and expect to pay the GST, Duty and all the other misc charges that go with it.

I'm finding that it is cheaper to buy out of the UK at the moment than from Tirerack. To ship two rears 295/30/18 it is 200gbp.

Tirerack is circa $250 for shipping 4 tyres.

Some people get quoted $400 but then if you get a different customer service rep they'll quote $250.

If you shop around locally you can get 18" PSS around $400 a corner and 19" @ $500-550

I must be getting ripped off. Any tips on who to email at Tirerack? I've been emailing Gill and I've been paying upward of US$375 for 3 tyres at a time (2 x 18's and 1 x 19's)!!!

I've made probably 6 orders through Tirerack now, doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper.

My history of shipping charges:

$232.39 USD: 4 x 18" Advan Neova tyres through Colin
$263.51 USD: 4 x 18" PSS person unknown
$263.51 USD: 4 x 18" Yoko Advan sport through Wes

Could be cause you're in QLD?
Also these were all about a year ago, maybe things have changed...

haven't ordered from tirerack recently, Evans at Tyrepower North Melbourne has been able to hook me up with good deals.

Thanks for the break down in prices Stu. Really not sure if it's a QLD thing or because I don't shop around anymore and assume I'm getting the best price. Either way, there is at least a $100 difference to be saved so might be worthwhile shopping around. I questioned the shipping prices the last time and was told that's how much everyone pays. I do recall other QLD buyers getting cheaper shipping too. I will enquire with Evans as well.
