Window Tinting in Sydney
I have searched the forum and found a topic on window tinting but it was too old and I wasn't able to extract sufficient information from it.
As you can see in the following picture that the tint on the rear window is different from the front one that's why I decided to have the whole car redone. What do you guys recommend in terms of quality, colour and cost? I'd like to go as dark as I legally can.

I just had mine done at the dealership when I was in one time. 3M 35% for $430 or something. Some people also get scratching on their windows - do you have this problem?

No I don't have the scratching problem.
I heard bad things about 3M like radio reception and keyless entry issues. Have you had any of those?

I was quoted $395 by Universal Tint and Auto who use 3M films (35%)
Some pics in their gallery. SBC, which dealership was that?

I'm guessing SBC went to BMW Sydney.
He has '35%' tint but it looks darker, 20% I reckon. 35% is weak, can barely notice the windows are tinted, go for 20% minimum. |

Am I going to be stopped by the cops for having 20% tint?

As long as you don't drive poorly (and have reason for police to pull you over) you should be fine with 20%, but it isn't legal. If you're really concerned with legality then stick to 35%. |

Just done at "Tint.a.Car". They recommended I do only that rear window which wasn't tinted for some reason. The film they used was Octane which is their darkest legal tint and fortunately, it matched other windows colour.
Thanks for those who tried to help.

I put 35% on my merc only to rip it off a few years later and have 15% put on.
It's too hard for cops to tell if you're tint is 20% or not. But glad you got it sorted MO3! |
