Playing music on Iphone 4 via USB

I cant seem to play the songs on my iphone 4 in the car via the USB port next to AUX port. I thought u just need to plug it in and it will just run.

It tried several times and it keep just getting stuck at "Reading". On the 5th attempted it shows "not supported" and now everytime I plug it in, it say not supported.

Does any has this problem?

Are you just using the iPod usb cable? I'm not sure about iPhones, but for my ipod + touch I use the BMW cable. It requires the use of both USB and AUX port at the same time apparently but I don't understand why.. Works fine anyway. I'd invite you to come and try it, but uh.. youre in Brissy...

you need to get the bmw ipod cable

doesnt work just using usb (which is pretty stupid if you ask me, it should work straight away)

dont buy a genuine one
go on ebay and search for bmw ipod cable and heaps will come up
i got one for about 20 bucks shipped

I've heard some of those non-genuine ones are simply shit and not worth the money.

How much are genuine ones from o/seas?

I've been meaning to get one of these for 3 years now

i bought an ipod cable (non-genuine) from ebay, works perfectly fine with my iphone4!

My old Shuffle seems to work fine before with just usb plugged in.

I got it the day of delivery so I was in a good mood and price didn't bother me. ~$50something i think.

50 is cheap for a genuine one
think they are 120

I just brought it this morning before seeing ur post. Buy chance, it is actually the same ebay seller form HK.
Price is realtively the same but they now offer lifetime warrenty.

I purchased one of these $20 ones of ebay. With my Ipod Touch I found I need to plug in the ipod after I have selected the AUX input on the Idrive screen. Everything (including podcasts) then get displayed on the screen.
