Satellite Radio 'acquiring' fix - PUMA 28229982-01 issued 12/17/09
So in some of the other threads I've posted I've been having issues with the Satellite Radio stuck in 'acquiring' mode on my 2010 e92 - took it to the dealer and they were like there is no issue unless you can show us. I was able to show them the issue, and the tech looked up and then referred to the Puma case dated mid December 09 that states the fix is for software to be updated.
Had the software update and no issues as of yet with the Satellie Radio getting stuck in acquiring. Check it out guys. |

I suspect my vehicle (delivered 1/23/2010) had that update, too, as I have not had a single occurrence of the "acquiring" problem.

Damn. That sucks. Do you know your production date? Mine was produced on December 14, 2009 -- maybe this info will help you and your dealer determine whether a fix was actually implemented between your car's production date and mine.

It is a e92 with 9/09 build. Dealer is turning a blind eye as if nothing happened - they asked me if I could reproduce it again and bring it in; and I said its random and that there was nothing more they could do at this time.
They just had the car for a full day! |

I'm no engineer, but I wonder if it has something to do with the HDU's connection to/communication with the satellite antenna. My home satellite radio units will show "acquiring signal" messages if the antenna connection is interrupted or blocked; I wonder if that is the cause of the problem here...?

Did the acquiring comeback? I have a 11.09 e90 328 xdrive. Every time I start the car I get disgusted. For me it happens every time I start my car unless I insert the key and wait for Sirius to acquire and connect.

Was this issue fixed? I had the same issue. Was told they did a SW upgrade, picked it up and had same issue before I left the dealer. I was pissed. Also had a past maintenance warning light that was bogus. SA said must be an issue after the car goes to sleep. The next day, 7/30.10, they replaced the "SDARS" unit. It worked and I drove it home.
I bought my 2009 e93 in Feb of 2010. If there are known issues like the first SW issue I was told I had, why don't the dealers fix it before selling it? I hope you got your fixed. |
