Speed Cameras coming to Baltimore County
The vote is coming up real soon. I think if it passes they want to have them implemented by Oct 1. I know for a fact that you have to be very careful driving in Montgomery County because they are ll over the place there. Once in Baltimore County it probably won't be too long before other counties get on board. Red Light cameras are one thing but speed cameras are a total different animal. I think initially they are going to be set up only near schools but once the money starts to roll in, who knows.
Time to upgrade to the Bel GX65. Be informed. |

My V1 picks up all red light, speed, etc. cameras. Post up what detector you have that picks these up so everyone can get on board and be ahead of the game.

I don't believe there is going to be a way to pick them up because it's going to work like Vascar, but instead of the cop using his binoculars or whatever, the sensor strips are in the road. I believe the only time you'll hear the camera on a radar is if it's taking a picture of you...(or someone around you)

All the DC and MD cameras are constant on. Today I picked up a second bogie on Connecticut Ave. Sure as S**t, Chevy Chase Village has there very own cameras in little green boxes about 4 feet tall one block before the State cameras on both sides. Two blocks North of the DC/MD circle. Tell me. Can you officially get two tickets in the same block from two different jurisdictions for the same 'crime'? Montgomery County AND the Village for the same speed trap? Hmmm.

I am sure that if the cameras radar is constant on that your detector will pick it from a good distance away.
I know that the new Beltronics GX65 has a GPS system built in with a database of all the known speed cameras and read light cameras. It has a usb port that allows it to be updated with new locations from their site. I am sure there is a subscription involved. From the looks off it when you encounter one of these traps its alerts with the type of trap by displaying "redlight" or "spdtrap". Also it has a feature that allows the detector to detect your speed when encountering any type of radar. Its an experience toy, is it worth it? At $40/$50 a pop for a ticket it could pay for itself as more of these things are put out there in the state and country. Oh well, my 2 cents. |
