…at least when I’m driving. Between the 850i (although a recent acquisition, I love driving it) and my E63S (yet to grow old), I’m set up to take rewarding drives on the Autobahn. Unfortunately, the prospects of taking a long drive on my local pothole-strewn, speed-limited byways is far less motivating. 🥺

While beautiful, my only concern would be that these are the types of roads, especially in rural areas, where cops just LOVE to hide and ticket speeders.

And knowing how tempted I would be, I would not be going 80 mph. 80 mph would be my minimal speed!

So, ya know, the prospects of being taken to jail are always there......

I hear ya. I got nailed in southern Oregon doing 80 in a 65 in my first M5 back in 2019. I don't have a radar detector, but it was my fault - not paying attention. I'm usually scanning like a Terminator. But since then, I've been all over thousands of miles of rural roads and never, ever see any cops anymore. No tickets, either.

You might like Montana and Utah. The interstates are posted at 80 mph, which usually means no one will bother you up to 90. I did a 100 mile stretch between Butte and Missoula in about 65 minutes a few years back. I had to keep moving over to the right lane to get out of the way. While exhilarating, there is nothing relaxing about going 90 for an hour. Too many things can go wrong and physics never takes a day off.
