Laser jammer installation experience

Looking to install integrated radar with laser jammers.
Currently use V1 but its bulky and I don't have much space in my M8 conv.
I limited my choices to Radenso or Escort.
Did anybody install those 'complete systems' in 8?
What is the cost?
What do you recommend based on your experience (besides slow down)

Go with Rodenso or AL Priority. Rodenso has same AL Priority brains + bumper installed radar units front and back.

Nothing comes close to these systems against DragonEye laser guns.

If you want to get mirror mounted radar detector, go with Uniden R7/R9 + AL Priority.

I agree with the Rodenso/ALP combo, but . . .

I'm trying to wean myself off the cost of these devices after using them since the early 1980s (I started with the original Escort Solo). With the advent of Waze, I find they're less and less useful and more and more expensive. But I can't quite live without something yet. So in my vert, I did install and hard-wire a V1. It's slim and fits above the rear-view mirror on the passenger side. And I run it with the V1Driver iPhone app. It's a pretty good and cost-effective solution to give me a layer of added protection and peace of mind.

I had a forced wean and have been ok with it although I'd like to go back. Back when cars had the 12v plug under the passenger dash it was easy for plugging my detector in. I thought a detector and waze was the ideal combo, but since BMW removed it I've been stuck with just Waze. Not quite as complete protection, but still decent. Maybe in the spring I'll try and do the mirror hardwire.

in meantime I did exactly that: hardwired my v1 to the morrow 12v. 20min job because I was following YouTube step by step instructions.
I put mine on the driver side at the highest possible level.
still trying to justify 5-7k for 'fully integrated system'.

Yup. I did it three years ago with my X4, but it was tough call. Could only get to V1 coin this time. Next time, I may finally be able to go cold turkey.

20min sounds fast. People make it sound like its a PITA. Was it that easy to get the mirror housing and stuff apart and back together? Which video did you watch?

The only reason I went with fully integrated Rodenso setup, is that M8 front windshield is pretty small, so cramping it with mirror mounted radar detector would reduce visibility by a lot.

I am still rocking "cheap" standalone AL Priority install on my Raptor, along with mirror mounted Uniden R7.

here is my 'installation'
this youtube was good enough to apply to M8:

After removing left and right parts as per video I removed the center cover too to have clear access.

Bought those supplies:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082V1245P...roduct_details

I used the shortest pins

Also this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LFRT94D...roduct_details

Red wire going to Red and Black to Brown in the mirror connector.

Doesn't look too overly difficult. And hey, those pry tools are 43% off! Now I just need to see if there is a longer cord such that I could run it down to put the RD in the lower left of the window. I know its not technically as idea as high up, but it's been fine in the past and seems like it wouldn't get in the way of the visor.

Fwiw, I installed my V1 high-up, on the passenger side above the mirror. It's placed far enough to the center of the windshield so that it doesn't interfere with passenger's sun visor. But this may only work with the V1. One of the reasons I chose it was that it's slim enough to fit above the mirror.

ALP is the only jammer to consider. The rest simply don’t work.

I used to have a Valentine but it annoys me that Mike Valentine won't add GPS to his detectors. I know there is the app you can and have to use in combination with it but it just seems like a hassle to use one more thing on top of everything else.

Yes. I bought the V1 because of the physical fit and because it's generally highly rated. But without the V1Driver app, it would have been a no-go for me. Everything's a compromise.
