List of potholes from prior thread

I wanted to create a list separate from the other thread of potholes for easier reference. Feel free to continue posting in the other thread and I can update it here. Also, feel free to provide better details of these potholes (e.g., what lane, landmark, etc.). Please note if any of these have been fixed as well. Hope this helps us to keep our Bimmers safe.

Best Of (Or, Don't go there unless you wanna shit yourself and scream like a little girl)
- Tobin Bridge, Route 1N

- Tobin Bridge, Route 1S, just past the tolls into Boston

Boston
- Right-most lane on the Pike when you enter Pru Tunnel going east-bound, just before Copley exit

- Right outside BMC on Albany St. going towards I-90/I-93

- Fairly unavoidable one by Cleveland Circle (more precise location?)

- Fairly unavoidable one by Landmark Center, Park Drive, between Beacon / Riverway, right lane, going towards Boylston

- Storrow Drive west, Fenway exit, between the exit and where it splits into Boylston St inbound and outbound, lots of potholes in the right lane

- Huntington Ave (Route 9W), outside of Prudential Center, right-most lane, just next to the Pike exit, HUGE hole in the ground for weeks

Cambridge
- Route 16W between Mass. Ave. and Route 2 in Cambridge

Somerville
- Washington St., intersection with Inner Belt Rd., near the touchless car wash

- 28N/McGrath, little hidden crater in the right lane, after you go in the short tunnel past the Stop & Shop but before you hit Assembly Square

- I93S onramp from 28S, quite the pothole towards the left side

- McGrath Highway, heading away from Boston, near MB dealership, left lane

Medford
- Large dips in the pavement on Middlesex Ave., southbound, between Wendy's and Kappy's

- Couple potholes that will grow up to be big on Route 16E, right-most lane, just past the intersection with 28; it's the lane you'd be in if you were turning into Station Landing (Note: This is where Tennberg got an $850 bill to replace an RFT and wheel a couple years back on his '07 E92 328xi.)

Everett
- Numerous potholes on 16E, middle lane, just past Target, Best Buy, Mellon bank, etc.

I-90
- On-ramp from I-90 (east or west?) to I-495N

I-93

- I-93N, exit 4 (Route 24)

I-95
- I-95N, exit 16B

- I-95N, right before exit 28A, right-most lane

Sorry, I had a brain lapse, it was the right most (slow, exit lane) on the pike.

For the one at Landmark, it's on Park Dr, between Beacon / Riverway, right lane, going towards Boylston

Should be

Right-most lane on the Pike when you enter Pru Tunnel going east-bound, just before Copley exit

You just have to be REALLY CAREFUL when you drive on that stretch of Albany that flanks Mass Ave, the entire street is filled with pot holes!

This is hilarious, I was just thinking to myself yesterday "we're probably the only region that could make a case to have a pothole location thread stickied."

Anyways, here's my contributions:

- the manhole has been covered up again, but it was on that stretch of 16 going from Everett to Chelsea on the Chelsea side

- Numerous potholes on 16 going from Everett to Chelsea on the Everett side leaving the little area with Target, Best Buy, Mellon bank etc. on the middle lane

- Somverville on 28/McGrath there's a little hidden crater on the right lane after the Stop and Shop after you go in the little tunnel but before you hit Assembly Square

- I would avoid the Tobin on rt. 1 north altogether right now. Not joking.

Hmmm...I wonder if older cities like NY and Philly have it this bad, or are we special?

I would have to say that New York and Philly are as bad, but Boston is unique in that we have more bad roads that are unavoidable. With the way the streets are designed in most of the state, we have no choice but to take a cratered road to get somewhere because the land was divided up first and the streets were designed as an afterthought. One way streets, rotaries, hidden train tracks in the middle of the road... we got it all!

This one is right at the intersection with Inner Belt Rd, and I've called Somerville but the road is not in their jurisdiction, it's owned by DCR.

I know how you feel. When I hit a pothole in Medford by Station Landing a year and a half ago or so, I filed a claim with Medford, who said it wasn't their jurisdiction. I would have to file it with the DCR since Route 16 is considered one of those parkways under DCR's control.

So, I file with DCR, and hear back from them a week later saying they are not liable for any damage done by any pothole on their roads, even if people have complained to them about it for months.

I love living in Massachusetts sometimes.

Medford is pothole galore, especially around Rte 16 and I-93.

Has anyone tried requesting reimbursement from the town for wheel/tire damage? I heard that this is possible, but wondering if anyone has been successful in arguing this with the town they hit the hole in?

Yes. Long story short, hit a pothole in Medford, filed a claim with Medford since the town hall main person said I would be able to, a week later, Medford said no, it's the DCR's problem. Called the DCR to file a claim, DCR said, we're sorry, but we're not responsible for any damages done on our roads, here's our website with the rule saying we're not responsible.
