New 335i coupe arrived!

Hi All,

My new 335i coupe finally arrived. The dual clutch 7 speed auto is a screamer and the new Idrive was definitely worth the wait.

Nice!

Now, exactly how good is the gearbox? Really, I want to know. In auto mode, when accelerating from stationary, how smooth are the upshifts? In manual mode, does it auto-blip the throttle when changing down?

Power delivery is very smooth and continuous, no jerkiness on the shifts. It blips on downshift. Even better when you select 'Sports' mode.

Like all others I am jealous of the 7 speed and the new iDrive

I love my 335i and will probably get another when the full facelift/new model comes out

After some more time on the road I am blown away by this car. Mates can't believe how smoothly and effortlessly the 335i tears up the road (thank you 3.0 twin turbo + DCT). And I haven't even tried Launch Control yet!

Previously owning a string of Japanese cars, I have to say that this German is off the chain!! The Individual High End sound system is equally insane.

BMW for life I think!

My neighbour just collected his 320i and over the weekend, we parked side by side between his 320i and my 330i. I have blacklines installed on mine and in comparison, I don't quite like the facelift version, seems 'messy' apart from the LED. Front side, once again not much difference beside LED which I am not fussy about. Overall, it has its plus and minus, individual taste and preference.

Plus the side mirrors is so much sportier and better looking than the new ones which is bigger!

He agreed some of the facelift are 'tasteless' according to him and he is actually planning to change the side mirrors!!!

Dear "I hold the Answers". Not sure what you're getting at, mate. If you are questioning whether the 335i Coupe with DCT has the Launch Control feature, well, it does. Either that, or the Owner's Manual, the Dealer, the product information all have it wrong. And maybe the Launch Control sequence I did the other day was just a fantasy...

Clarity of the sound system is outstanding. In my previous cars I used to fade the speakers slightly to the rear to get more bass coming through. In this system, because the subwoofers are under the front seats, that is unnecessary. I leave the front and rear speakers on equal volumes. The other awesome thing about this system is that the sound quality is exactly the same regardless of where you are sitting in the car, front or rear seats - really impressive.

I may be missing something here But I do not see the benefit of the 7 speed box, My 318i was a 5spd manual and granted it used to rev quite high on the highway in 5th the 325i revs quite low in 5th gear and I often have to remind myself to slip it into 6th. These are of course SMG's so gear changing is alot easier than a manual but my dads 964 only has 4 gears and Its power delivery is beautiful.
