My New Thundernight M240i

Wanted to share my new arrival, build experience, and some quick pics until I get her back from paint correction and protection next week.

Nov 5 - Placed order (Got allocation and production # the same day)
Dec 19 - Entered production
Jan 29 - Delivery

Tracking the build was not precise this time around from my experience, Jan 26th strangely the car showed at the port in MX and later got a message from SA that it was stateside and they were pushing to deliver by end of the month.

Dealer is telling me I'm the first delivery they've had on this car but not sure if that's just a line to make me feel special?

I drove the car straight home, parked in the garage and it's been there since. We got a rare snow and ice storm the next week, and I refuse to drive until the car is protected. Like many others, I ordered sight unseen. I also didn't tell my wife I ordered a purple car until we got to the dealership and she started pressing me for details... when I told her the color she started dying laughing then she saw it and loved it.

First impressions, the car feels quick and wants to speed badly but I'm sticking to easy break-in. Absolutely love Thundernight and so glad I went this way. Interior updates are great, although I still keep reaching by the steering wheel column/dash area for the push start so far.

Build
Thundernight Metallic
Oyster Vernasca
Shadowline Pack
Parking Assistance
Premium
Cooling & HP Tire
H/K Sound

Thanks and small world, I've worked with them in past as well and they are my preferred DFW dealer.

Appreciate it, and I'm big on contrasting int and ext.

My other color choice would have been Brooklyn over Tacora with same trim options.....
but I just couldn't pass on a standard production offered BMW Purple Would be cool if they stop offering it is standard after the first year, just to keep it a tad more exclusive.

Perhaps replace it with a more exciting Blue option.

Oyster is admittedly not my favorite interior color but works well based on what options were available.

I notice you got the oil cooler option. That was literally the only thing I didn't do. What made you go for that add?

Wheels, Michelin PS4's, improved cooling for brakes and engine, so felt it was worth the option.

Yep the color is not for everyone, but it's definitely for me

Here’s a few more shots when I was picking up from paint protection before I pulled her out of the shop into the gloomy day.

The tint is ceramic and I went 25% all around.

No, I haven't noticed any issues yet and I assume you're talking about the electronics?

I honestly can't live without tint, it instantly makes the car more comfortable for me... mainly with light and glare reduction. Of course, as the summer heat starts cranking it will make a big difference there as well. Just feels better in my cave

Wow soooo clean. This is so crazy. This is exactly how I wanted to build my m240. But my boyfriend convinced me to get non shadowline with cerium wheels instead lol

Looks real good. I would have did mine the same way, but with the blue exterior. The back looks funny on the M240i, but looks much better in your pics. BMW really gives you more with these new 2 series than they did with the previous ones. I had a M235i and now have an 18 M2. When the new M2 comes out, I will have a decision to make. I really hope they keep the same kidney grills that's on the M240i, and not's what's been rumored.

Thanks, and I think cerium is a great look with the color too and probably the more popular choice, but I just prefer the Shadowline. Shadowline definitely looks its best against a light color like BG or AW in my opinion, but I'm still really happy how my build came out overall.

I initially had the cerium wheels ordered and then after sleeping on it overnight, I woke up and text the dealer to change and add the cooling/ wheel & tire package. I'm very glad I did

Thanks, and yes, the color has a ton of character and changes dramatically depending on the lighting. Those overcast shots I took have some crazy shadow and light play throwing on the body.

I've definitely seen some heads turn the few times I've driven her! Had quite a few compliments already with people gushing over the color

I understand people's gripe with the rear, but it's grown on me quickly and as shown from the right angle it looks good! I definitely want the carbon rear spoiler, as I think it balances out the rear even more.

The hips and rear side profile I think look fantastic personally

I was originally shopping for an M2 / M2C after falling in love with it a BMW M Track Day event at COTA. Then the car market went bonkers and I just couldn't justify paying markup or more for a 3-4-year-old used car. So when the new M240 released it was a perfect alternative for me, new car warranty, love the updated interior over the last-gen, and the performance is really solid......even for an M-Lite

That's what I chose to do. If I was doing track days in the car I would have gone for the M2 older gen at the same value. However I'm a spirited daily driver and the new m240i is just perfect. No disrespect to the M product as I have owned many. This car drives so much nicer than a true M car for daily driving and can still give the same feel on the road.

My order is similar to yours but I went with the black interior and added just about every option. I ordered 12/02 and it has finally been put on a ship yesterday. Should be in Galveston today, 03/11. I have been debating on window tint. Right now, I only have it on one of my two cars. I just don’t think it works with certain cars/colors. After seeing your pics, I am still on the fence. My cars never sit out in the elements so I really don’t need it for UV protection or heat blocking. It’s just an aesthetic choice. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
