Deleted features on new M3/M4 builds

I thought I’d open a thread for those in Australia who have recently taken delivery of an M3/M4 or are awaiting a build.

What features have you had removed as a result of supply shortages?
Aside from the wireless charger which I believe has already been deleted on the M3 (but not M4?) there is a lot of chat on the international forums here about other features being deleted. Does anyone know how much of this applies to the Australian market?

The specific features I’m referring to are:
- carbon fibre roof
- touchscreen on idrive
- laser lights
- wireless charger
- Apple carplay

Was just about to post asking if anyone has experienced a deletion of carbon roof. I've asked my sales manager and he said he'll check with the group and get back.

I have a late january build slot for late march delivery so hoping nothing missing,

build order included everything

I think you’ll be fine given you have a confirmed build order

I placed a deposit in January and dont have an allocated build slot yet so I’m worried deletion of features

You should be fine.

The US cars appear to be having loads more issues, but I think that may be due to everything being an option in the US, there while here is AUS the car comes pretty loaded.

Anyone who already had their M4 could you please check if your car iDrive Controller has light illuminated on the top of the touch pad ? (those 4 arrows on the pad).

Mine does not have light and not sure if it is for AU model ? I see the light on G20 model.

I have a Week 7 scheduled build. When ordering back in September 2021 (which at the time I requested a 2022 build), wireless charging was a factory-forced deletion. This seems to have come back as my build spec now includes it, however I now have the iDrive controller touch function deletion. As far as I'm aware, G8x's aren't impacted by iDrive touchscreen deletion.

How long does it take to get a build allocation after placing a deposit? My order was placed in December, with a potential delivery in June. But my gut feel says it'll probably be a May/June build with August / September delivery.

I can only speak for myself, but mine was less than 2 weeks to get a built week. I did order individual paint though so not sure if that makes a difference.

I ordered mine in August and is was built November. It is waiting for transport now to the dealer. There was a hold up of three weeks in shipping in AUS due to COVIS issues.

I ordered October and had a Nov build slot, but let it through to go a Jan build slot for 22 build

There seems to be a bit of backlog on things. Dealer still doesn't have an allocation for the order, and they think perhaps delivery in July. Crossing fingers that options are not deleted because of this.

Ordered M3 X-Drive at beginning of Dec - just been told have a build date end of Feb (hopefully). Deleted touch pad on i-drive controller (and wireless phone charging). About a month ago I was informed there was some question about touchscreen delete so dealer put the order on hold briefly, but they have been told currently ok for G80 so have confirmed build date. But I guess you never know - the individual I deal with did tell they have had a car arrive with a deletion that they and buyer weren't aware of…

hmmm, concerning. I've asked the dealer to keep me posted with all updates....- chips shortages are easing for different industries, and different car models

There are some protections in AUS. If the car arrives, not as ordered, and the buyer was not informed of any changes, then the buyer can have the right to walk away. That is how I read it. Not saying you would for small items, but major items for sure. Here is a video about it.
