Carbahn Stage 1 Tune installed / draggy results

So I had an authorized BMW Carbahn dealer install the stage 1 Carbahn tune on my 2020 M8 Cab.

Few weeks ago I did some draggy pulls before the tune and my best results were 2.9, 3.0, 3.1 sec to 60mph. 1/4 - 10.99, 11.0, 11.1 @ 119-122 mph-ish

After the tune a couple of days ago I did not notice much difference and it didn't feel like it was faster. In fact on launch it felt slower. I called Carbahn and they had me go to the dealer for a re-flash. They also stated that I should put a couple hundred miles on the car for the tune to learn, adjust and the car will be much faster. I did manage to put 150 miles on it last night. All though its not 200 miles on the tune yet, I did some draggy tests. I just do not understand what is going on. Then again maybe the tune might be so well engineered that the power comes on so linear and its hard to tell?

Tuned results: 3.3 to 4.2 to 60, and 11.1 to 11.46 for the 1/4 (trapping at 126 to 128mph)

My previous M5 comp had the Jb4 installed and it was a significant difference dropping the 1/4 mi by half a sec, 0 to 60 in 2.8, 60 - 130 in 7.1...The only thing was the constant error codes, limp mode etc. It was too frustrating. I only did this ecu flash tune on the M8 because of the matching warranty. 2nd reason; Carbahn is Dinan's new company who has a great reputation. I have to say the power is smooth, zero errors, great customer service, drives like stock.

I would love to keep the tune with warranty if it will get better over some more miles.

Does anyone here with an M8 have this tune? I cant find any posted results anywhere. They have many happy customers but I would like to see results. At $3500 installed with full warranty I am expecting a big difference. Hope the tune gets better significantly after more miles. I am still giving Carbahn the benefit of the doubt and will add another 100 to 150 miles on the car and drive it aggressively as suggested for the tune to acclimate. and will update this thread with results and draggy screens

Ouch!! it is expensive!!
I was expecting much better times with their tune.

I just installed the JB4 on my 2022 M8 Comp Convertible and with a little tweaking 0-60 2.94 and 10.75 1/4 mile at 127mph. No limp mode or errors. Will their tune take advantage of mixing E85 with 93 or race gas?

It's tuned for 93 and 100. No toggling back and forth is necessary. No mention of E85. Automatically adjusts from the octane though. 10.7 pretty good but isn't that still what it's supposed to do stock ? In The smoking tire youtube review they claim 9's with intercoolers and heat exchangers and 100 octane. I'd be happy with 10.4 to 10.5 on 93 if consistent but more specifically sub 7 second 60 to 130. Doubt I'll get there with this. Oh well.

Taking into account that mine is a heavier car than the coupe I'm happy with a 10.75. We think it can do a bit better, kind of new to the JB4 but will keep fine tuning and hopefully when the weather cools down here in Miami I can post better times.

Mines a cab too. You also have more dense air than GA. So what is your 60 to 130 time?

Have not tried it yet.
Hard to find clear roads in Miami to try it safely. Might be able to do it in the next couple of days.

So the new tune is making more power based on the increase in MPH . My guess is now your spinning when you launch it . Have you tested it again ? Also check the DA on your dragy for both stock and tuned .

I just did the stage 2 on my 22 GC. Butt dyno definitely shows an improvement. Carbahn did it. Going to try to get some more definitive results but I didn’t really have a baseline.

So did you get it benched tuned? I see some conflicting data out there about being able to tune anything 2020 and newer BMW due to the Bosch ECU. Can you let me know what process was used to tune?

They use a piggyback type device now. Can't do a true flash anymore. They say it is their own but who knows.

Could you post a picture of the piggy back device?

Thanks

That bears a striking resemblance to the Racechip GTS Black.

Not sure I follow: are you saying it does look like a re-branded RC GTS or that I'm an idiot? Both are perfectly plausible.

Rebranded Racechips yes.

One of the largest tuners out there that makes boxes for SCT, Bullydog, and countless other does this with there modules and rebrands them. Pretty common, but not $3500 which is astonishing.

WTF. After I saw this thread I called up Carbahn and they said my 2020 was direct ecu flash and that the 21 and 22 uses a controller (That it's not a piggy back)..AND that it's not released to the public yet. I wonder if my car is even tuned now. I need to find a 4 wheel dyno in GA and see if I'm pushing 100whp as they claim.

If you can't tell by the seat of the pants dyno then they're full of $hit. Turn it off then see.

Further, who cares about the HP gains. Buy a Dragy and test the actual performance.
