Hi all,

Picked up this last week, really happy with it and as an added bonus it came with the m performance exhaust which the garage didn’t know about. Since I’ve had it I’ve added carbon mirror caps, spoiler and black badge. Next will be springs probably eibach

👍 congrats on your purchase ..I recently purchased an 18 540 with msport package same color with black kidney grills as well (love the color but apparently rain will seemingly be our worst enemy ..dirt accumulation is incredible on the car when it rains) Moved up from a 14 335..your car looks nice & clean ..like the exterior mods so far

Quick questions did you install CF mirror caps yourself? ..where do you buy them? Seeking to purchase a set myself ASAP ...thanks!

How do you like the m performance exhaust? Loud, not loud, obnoxious? Does it drone? I'm looking for this option only because I'm in California and would like to stay OEM as much as possible to not cause problems with exhaust nazi cops/chp. Thanks.

Yeah it’s a nice colour when it’s clean! Lol

Yeah fitted them myself, they were pretty easy and took like 30 mins. It’s just a little fiddly getting the clip loose off the old ones. I got them from r44 performance. Really nice a quality.

It’s not loud at all mate and doesn’t drone at all. In fact at first I thought it was the stock exhaust. I def want it louder so I’m getting a decat and if I’m still not happy I’ll sell it and get a Remus.

Looks really nice! I'm super sloppy and scared I'll crack the mirror so that's why I'm hesitant on making it a diy..we'll see ..lol ..enjoy the car and looking forward to read a few more of your mod postings!

I have my g31 540i coming this week hopefully (2017 model) and it also has the M performance exhaust on it, but I was told that to have the MP Exhaust, that came with the MPPSK only, the only way to get the exhaust alone was to buy it used and fit it yourself. Do you know If your car has the MPPSK too? I'm pretty sure mine does as it growls a lot at cold start and I believe the way it drove was different to the other 540s I tested...

I’m not sure how to tell, however I think it might be the exhaust only as it wasn’t on the spec list from factory. The exhaust alone will growl on cold start. The mppsk also comes with a remap from bmw but Ive got bootmod3 so not to fussed about that really

you wouldn't be able to tell, it would be a retrofit option by the dealer. Apparently in your engine bay there should be M Performance stickers if its been fitted. The MPPSK for the 540 comes with the exhaust, the remap and the replacement torque convertor.

As you use BM3, have you used the cold start delete option with the MP Exhaust and does it work ok?

I’ll have a look tomorrow. But I haven’t flashed bootmod yet, I’m gonna do it in the new year once I’ve had the car a few months

Check for the MPerformance Power Kit label as suggested (see bottom right of image below). If you have the MPPSK, it will have that fitted as well as another sticker to indicate the date of the work etc. Plus you'll also have remapped engine torque and power gauges in the iDrive (higher max values than stock for the gauges), but I think BM3 does that as well.

Out of interest what are the stock figures on the sport gauges?

Ok I don’t have that badge on the engine cover but there’s a sticker under the bonnet that says bmw m performance power kit programming update

Ah yeah that’s the sticker! Cool
