fair labor price

A guy who lives couple blocks from me asking me to fix the oil leaks on his car 2009 328xi. He wants to replace valve cover gasket, oil housing gasket and oil pan gasket. He will purchase parts and wants me to put them on.

how much do you guys think that I should charge him?

I usually charge $450 for oil pan on RWD(AWD would have to add a bunch for labor, not sure if worth it to me lol), OFHG $200, and valve cover $250. I usually give a little discount if getting a bunch of work done together like that. YMMV

AWD requires removing two front axles and front differential. Thanks man.

yeah, exactly why I said not sure if it would be worth it to me. I never wanted to do an Xi oil pan, because the people that come to you usually don't want to pay what the work required to do it is worth.

After watching Zeiten doing an oil pan gasket on his YouTube channel, I think that $450 is low. I did my VCG last week and would have loved to pay someone $250. I do not have my binder handy but I bet the dealership charges multiples of those rates and you’re going to them or they’re coming to you.

yeah $450 is a little low, but it comes out to about $60/hr for me so not too bad really.

Indy's around me definitely charge 1.5-2x what I charge.

Since his car is AWD, we're agreed $900 to replace all three. I think dealer would charge him way more. I replaced his starter and brakes in the past, so he likes my work.

Cool deal, as long as both you and him are happy with the price then that's all that matters
