liquiMoly Oil Flush and Ceratec
Has anybody used these products? If so, what are your thoughts?
I also see for the Engine Flush a 500 ml can is for 5 liters of oil. Should I add 2 bottles or has anybody done it with one and have good results? |

Waste of money, just use good engine oil and change it as often as you can.

I use both (oil and Ceratec) on the two M57 engines I have. Liqui Moly makes a great oil and the Ceratec stuff is supposedly really good for combating bearing wear. The M3 guys supposedly have had success with it since the V8 is known to potentially eat through the bearings.
I also sent off two oil samples to Blackstone Labs for analysis (one without running Ceratec and one with) and the sample with the Ceratec additive did show elevated levels of protective additives. If Ceratec is too expensive for you, you can always buy their MoS2 additive, which achieves similar results and is cheaper. IIRC, they've been selling MoS2 for 20 or so years and Ceratec is a relatively new product. Regardless of whether these additives do anything, I buy them from FCP Euro and get refunded when I send the old oil back. So for me, its cheap peace of mind. |

I ended up doing a Flush with Liqui Moly. I figured most likely would not hurt and might help.
I have to say I am impressed. The car has 133k miles and before I realized how easy an oil change actually is, I would go the 15k miles between changes as recommended. So there probably was some sludge in the engine. The engine is quieter now and runs smoother. Idle is not as rough either. I also added the Ceratec. I can't say if this is helping or not as the biggest difference was from the flush. I am going to run the car about 1500 miles then change the oil again to get the ceratec out. From reading, it takes around 800 miles to fully coat the engine parts. |

I used ceratec on my S62 for bearing wear protection. I had no adverse effects or issues.
