How on earth is the R8 that much faster in a straight line, that much lighter, yet slower around the track while on Sport Cup 2 tyres compared to the M8 on PZeros. That makes no sense to me at all!

Phatcat I see they tested the 812 which I hadn't realized they had, any chance you could upload that test if you have it?

Great job for the M8 especially on Pirellis and given the weight of the car!

As long as the door handle didn't fall off while trying to close it, of course.

Yeah, yeah—I know I'm about to be berated and my experience is really but one car but, what can I say, I'm a sarcastic bastard.

My sarcasm aside: the M8 and 911 are NOT in competition with one another IMnrHO. The rest of the pack are indeed competing against the 911. The fact that her fat arse beat the other two is so much more than an, "oh, really?" moment, it's downright amazing and a testament to the car's design and setup.

// my license plate says it all

As for the 911 winning and as I've mentioned in perhaps my total of 3 posts on the topic: the car is a sublime driver's machine and the PDK is literally defying physics... so I'd have bet my money on the 911 in this comparison every time.

Agree the 911 and 8er are not similar on anything but price, two completely different beasts for completely different purposes.

GTR is aging so I do not feel its fair comparison. Audi was always a 3rd place. It remains there despite having access to all the VAG
technic.

Couldn't agree more. The 911TS is on another level. That the M8 did this well on that rubber is impressive as hell

Of these four I'd actually probably take the Audi. Always loved the R8, the first generation is still better, but its an awesome supercar with its NA V10 but still retains the "Audi-ness" that makes it "the daily-able supercar." Replace that 992 Turbo with a GT3 however and that would be my top pick.

Porsche is on PZeros also. With Porsche if you get the PZeros it's a good thing they don't offer PS4's. Other tire I've seen on 992 is Goodyear's - no thanks LOL

Lighter and way better at being a sports car but not so much in rain and snow and as a car with a real trunk picking up kids from tennis... I owned a turbo now my M8 is my DD and yes at close to $200k in my car with akrapovic exhaust and wheels plus side skirts, tune, clear bra and full laser radar plus ppf I could easily drive a P car.

I love the P Zeros on track with my F90C. I can't find many downsides comparing to the PSC2 on my M4GTS.

0-200 km/hr 8.6 seconds insane with the Porsche

Track time very impressive for M8, granted it's a track with a couple long straights but very impressive nonetheless

These big heavy M cars get around a track crazy fast. Reminded me of this:

8.6s in 0-200 is not insane at all for the 992. It's capable of low 8s under ideal condition.

Anyone else notice how the R8 was slowly closing the acceleration gap by 250km/h. That NA V10 if given more room might have taken it.
