It seems, according to my delivery representative at the BMW Welt center. I am the last of the US European delivery or until the program comes back again.

On September 3rd I took delivery of a 2021 M8 Gran Coupe.

Nope, no difference from the 2020. From what I have seen in the past few days I do not see any changes.

How did you get into Germany? Assume you have an EU passport?

Until it comes back again!? Are you just saying that, or did BMW suggest it might return?

This. I have several American friends who had to cancel their ED because the EU wouldn't let them in.

Also, what a bittersweet day. Cool car but under such dire circumstances it's difficult to be happy about this.

Sad day indeed, but glad you were able to experience this. I'll miss seeing these EU delivery posts and Youtube vids.

It's a solid way for BMW to inject it's blood deep into your veins

It's a win win for BMW and their customers

How were you able to enter Germany with the US citizens being on the prohibited list for entrance?

Fly into a EU that has a open boarder and then take a train to Munich. I have read that the German airports are requiring COVID-19 testing for arriving nationals via private labs that cost $213.

An other route is get tested in the US within 3 days prior to departure and re-tested again in DE upon arrival, paying the $213 fee.

Shame this program is dead, all because BMW NA executives couldn't figure out how to make European Delivery fair for US dealerships.

Someone in HQ needs to be fired.

A sad, sad day. European Delivery was on my bucketlist for years, always dreaming of saving it up for that first M car, waiting until my son was old enough to enjoy a lovely European vacation and feeling the thrum of that mighty engine on the Autobahn or even the Nurburgring if I dared.

I'm personally of the opinion that even as a loss leader, the experience was key to getting people to love the brand and stay with it through questionable marketing and design directions. How can you not love an organization sponsoring some of the greatest driving opportunities available to the average person?

I'm hoping COVID killed it, and when the dust settles it'll come back. But I have my doubts...

To the OP, and all who got to experience this, thanks for your words, your pictures and your journals. You helped those of us who never made it live vicariously through your experiences and I deeply thank you for that!

Austria and Switzerland also do not let US Citizens in. I spoke with the German Embassy and what they told me is that the COVID tests would not be an option for US Citizens. It's a hard block for them now. That's why BMW keeps on pushing my ED further and further.
