I like how they put the scale for Base prices x1000 to $500k to make the Pista look good. Lol.

That Z51 is mighty, mighty impressive across the board though.

This will probably be controversial... but, honestly cars are getting too fast. The horsepower wars are just getting absurd at this point.

Sorta agree with you. When will it end? I feel like a 10.7 stock car should be where we start to pump the brakes.

With speed limits not increasing its just so much power that your done so quick. It may be useful on a track but how many people track their two ton luxury sport sedans/coupes? I prefer cars where I need to work for power or I can at least rev them out more. The quick 0-60 sprints may be exhilarating but I find it gets old quick, and the engineering behind making these cars incredibly quick just robs it of feel. This is not just a BMW issue too, even with Porsche I would take a base Carrera over a Turbo any day of the week. Even the base Carrera is a little too fast since its become turbocharged (another reason why NA 911's are just so great).

There is a segment of potential car buyers which is price insensitive. Horsepower wars and 0-to-"are you ready to buy if below or above a certain number" are just a tool to accelerate the sale of a vehicle with a bigger profit margin.

Well, 5-60 mph is 3.5s, that's what most of us are going to see in real world, which is bloody quick in its own right.

The 2.5 is trickery, one foot rollout and launch control

Honestly horsepower has very little to do with these insane numbers the largest factor is tires, the technology for tires is insane nowadays. The amount of pure power they can handle, I mean look at how 700 hp cars are launching on Michelin street tires.

Next is transmissions, again the amount of power that isn't lost, and on top of that how fast they shift.

Not saying your wrong, but that HP is maybe 25% of the equation at max. Just look at the Corvette for instance 495 HP and out paces 700+ hp cars of yesterday.

Comon bro, 25%? Obviously you have no idea that torque peters up out top. A 495hp 2020 with the Z51 package runs a 1/4 mile in an 11.3 thats no where close to the M8 at 10.7 stock... which is about 5 car lengths.

Times have changed haven't they? Remember when over a decade ago when the legendary Bugatti Veyron did this 0-60 time and it seemed earth stood still for second just because we humans couldn't wrap our minds around such an achievement along with its top speed.

Now, we have a BMW M car that is basically a GT car achieving that number. The M8 Competition is not a quick car but is downright fast regardless of its size and internet complaints in regards to its curb weight.
