Could This Be The Track Focused M8 CS or CSL Spied?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
A more hard core M8 has been spied. Could this be a prototype for an upcoming M8 CS? Or perhaps this is a test vehicle for a top dog CSL model? The large wing seems to say CSL, but the lack of roll cage and streetable track/competition tires suggest CS.

It may be too early to say for sure which it is (or if it could be something else entirely), but we would love to hear your thoughts.

Could be an Alpina B8 based on the M8 instead of M850i? I don't think I've seen any Alpina G14/15 cars testing at all?

Obviously the wheels aren't Alpina style and it doesn't have an OAL numberplate but it does have blue brake calipers - Alpina haven't done CCB yet at all and I'd have thought if it was an M8 CS or whatever variant it'd have CCBs

Alpina wouldn't have a wing like that. They're all about conservative styling and don't design their cars to be hardcore track focused anyway.

My question is why did BMW roll out an 8 series vehicle for what amounts to a lifecycle of 6 years?

Doesn't matter smaller wing or bigger wing, this thing will first need to hop on a keto diet

BMW's model lifecycle is seven years with an LCI about 3 years in.

What's the point? Its too heavy no matter what, and I don't think any 8 series buyer is interested in the track. If you want a track car that's well above $100k just buy a 911 :

Also, why make a track version of one of your least driver focused vehicles in the lineup??

So now my regular M8 is a piece of crap compared to the Competition compared to the CS compared to the CSL?

Thanks for making me feel special, M.

Your garden variety M8 is a piece of crap only if you think it is.

Poor baby awwww so sad for you if you thought nothing better would ever come along

Manufacturers make products to sell. And they improve those products continually these days or they get left behind.

PS. If you need a car purchase to make yourself feel special.... you may want to seek professional help...

BMW is diluting the competition and CS models by adding them to everything now. Soon we'll have a 320i CSL model

Cant be an alpina. Alpinas have 4 doors and are historically the GC. I think it's the M8 GTS or something along those lines

This really won't ever be a track car, at least I wouldn't think so...even a CS or CSL would be so boat-like and heavy that I don't see the need. This thing is a fast GT car?
