Is heated windscreen available as an option on the 5?

Want that and heated steering.
Auxiliary heating would be good too. Remember this as an option on the previous 5 but can't see any Webasto options on the UK configurator.

Thanks

if by aux heating you mean you can programme the car to pre heat, then yes you can. You can do it from the smart key or the app.

I use it daily to have a toasty car in the mornings

Works really well too, as long the car has at least 15mins, snow and ice are usually melted. Just be careful with the boot, opened it once coming back at the airport and wet snow slid off the lid and into the boot!

Question is for the UK market, we don't get the same options.

We get it in the UK. However it only turns on fans and usually do not make much difference to iced windscreen. It can be preset to come on at certain times and days and you can activate it directly from the app or the display key

We don't get the same system in the UK. In the UK you can activate the fan but there is no separate fuel-fired heating system which heats up the engine coolant and circulates it through the car to heat the interior before starting the engine. This option - which IS available in Poland, Germany and other places with properly cold winters - is not an option in a UK-specced car. I'll leave you to translate it and not find it on the UK configurator.

I used to live in Germany and have specified this on cars I owned when I lived there. Makes a helluva difference on those mornings when it's -18°C outside.

Can you tell me what pre-conditioning actually means?? Display key option only seems to have an activate option, does that mean it sets to last temperature in car before switch off or can you specify a number on the device? Appreciate it will not be full engine heating so interested to know how it works as I have one ordered (delivery to UK this week!!!)

I tend to use the connected app rather than the key, this turns on the heating fans to warm the car. I just go on the app in the morning 15mins or so before going out. It gets quite warm, and if you have enough time it will loosen any ice on the windscreen. I would assume that the preconditioning cools or heats depending on the ambient temperature, not sure if you can specify a temperature it probably just aims to make it the temperature 'comfortable' i.e. not boiling hot in the summer or freezing cold in the winter.

Haven't used it to cool the car yet, will see when the temperature here gets above freezing!

I'm in uk
No heating on car so my app gives me the option of ventilate now and departure climate timer which is a bit vague but as it shares the same fan symbol with a clock means it is just scheduling the fans at a predetermined time.

I think for uk climates it is arguably not necessary as I personally feel the car heats up pretty quickly anyway.

Do you know if you get the "Rest" feature where the blower feeds engine heat into the car after you switch off for up to about 15 mins ?

I haven't ordered 4zone and was just wondering if you get this with standard climate control ?
My x5 has it and it's very useful

With your car off,
Press the speed increasing button for the fan control on the drivers side

The flaps on the radiator grill are awesome for that. It's been below freezing here for a couple of weeks now and the car engine is at optimal temp before I've driven half a mile each morning.

You can also activate rest feature via Display key. If you've been running the car for a while simply activate ventilation from the key once you are out of the car. When you get back to the car you'll notice the display says Rest.

So what does Rest mean OR what does it do?

If the car is heated up, it will attempt to maintain the same temperature whereas normally it's just the blower.
