New G31 530d ordered (UK)!

Hi all,

Put in an order for a new 530d MSport Touring today, expecting to take delivery in March. Excited isn't the word

After much umming and arring we've decided to go for:

Bluestone
Ivory White Dakota
Fineline Cove trim
Comfort Package
Park Asst Plus
MSport Plus Package
Visibility Package
Towbar
Panoramic Sunroof
Steering wheel heating
Sunblinds - rear side windows
12V power sockets
Dynamic Safety
Active cruise control

Accepted a fantastic deal with around 19% off list. Very happy.

Now comes the long wait...

It's to replace a company car which is being returned around then. As much as I want it sooner, there's no option of returning the company car early (without continuing to pay for it)!

That and the other car is a 430d which got hit by loads of delays in 2015 and took SIX MONTHS to arrive. The thinking is getting in with plenty of time should mean it's there when I need it.

Ah that's fair enough. 6 months? makes sense to get your order in early then!

Nice spec. Only question I have is on Enhanced Bluetooth. Would you not want to spec that one in as I think number of functions depend on that?

As far as I understand it, that just gives you the ability to pair two phones, bluetooth streaming, wireless charging, and the ability to pay for wifi?

Two phones would be handy, but not at that price. Anything else you get?

Id also order the upgraded leather and ceramic controls for added interior ambience, worth the £800 in my view, once you had the heated steering you wont go back

To be honest, I don't know what else beyond what you've mentioned. For me those are important but then again M Sport Plus Package or Sun blinds aren't. We are all different, so only you'll know what you really want.

So jealous you guys get the 530d wagon. Here in Australia we're limited to the 520d and 530i for the G31 (which yes I appreciate is more than what the US market gets).

Query on the discount. 19% off list price seems awfully large amount for what here we would call a factory order. Is that sort of discount normal for a factory order in the UK? Here for a factory order, we would be lucky to get maybe 10% off at best.

I am sure others can give you more detail, but when i ordered my 540i G31, there was an additional £4000 BMW discount if i took finance.
For most cars i looked at, bigger discounts are available for finance than cash deals.
I paid cash for mine as i prefer to own my cars

There's nothing stopping you taking finance, getting the contribution, then settling within 14 days at no extra cost. Easy way to save £4k.

20ish percent off is achievable for most of the BMW range without too much haggling, and if you include the finance contribution mentioned above. Some models are less discounted such as the X models, and anything brand new.

I am currently not UK resident, so getting approval with no UK credit history for the past 25 years was a bit of a non starter. I was aware of the "loop hole", even BMW pointed it out, but they also mentioned it would be problematic without credit history.
But there are some good deals out there

Just out of interest are most opting for X-Drive or not,

either way to pick one of these up for mid £40s is a no brainer over an ex demo, i shall look at one next year when they hit the c£30k mark.

Same reasons. Wet weather grip is the big plus for me

XDrive is superb ,I can't even get the car out of its line when I push it thru the curves whereas for RWD cars I would see ESP or Traction kicking in to rectify the situation on the same roads .
Some say 4 wheel drive spoils the enjoyment of the car driving because you can't get the car to oversteer ,unersteer or whateversteer it is but it gives me more confidence as well

I had the X Drive on a loaner 740d and X3 earlier this year and moving forwards this is a must have on my next car, totally required in my view on the larger engined cars, who wants to go sideways in the real world anyway
