BMW is behind in this technology in my opinion. Mercedes adaptive LED technology seems to be much more sophisticated.

I could inform that the icon LED of G30 is superb. It lit up the whole width of motorways and adjoining sides goes a long distance regarding forward projection. The auto high beam works flawlessly

I've had adaptive LED's on my current BMW for 3 years, I have a new gG30 on order. I've always found the adaptive LED's to be fine. I drive to Croatia 3 times a year & it's great not to have to adjust the lights when driving abroad. I see all these people sticking these deflectors on their headlights at the ferry port, they don't work properly anyway.

I don't want to seem to be exaggerating, but it is almost as good as driving daylight. I was completely blown away the first time I drove at night on an unlit section of a motorway. Well may be it is understandable as I came from F10 with halogen headlights

In fact, adaptive LEDs on G30 are really impressive. Their range is about 500m (ca. 1640 ft.). It is just 100m shorter than laserlights from 7-series (which could potentially be even better as their power is uncompareable to LEDs, but - as I suppose - there is technical limitation, especially because of on-board assist cameras performance or very small angle of light incidence, which cannot guarantee not to blind other drivers at distances longer than 600m). Mercedes doesn't have lasers but their LEDs also achieve 600m (what is, as Mercedes says, everything what can be done because of legal regulations). And yes - the Merc's LEDs seems to be a bit more sophisticated than those from BMW, however I cannot find any information if those '600m' high-end lamps also concern E-class (W213).

Being blinded in the night by oncoming traffic almost always reveals a Mercedes as the culprit
