BMW of Mountain View $5K Market Adjustment
Just spoke to dealer regarding news on the M2. He explained they still have no allocation numbers but that they will be charging MSRP + $5000 mark up.
Ugh. |

If you are looking for an honest dealership in Bay Area, check out East Bay BMW and Stevens Creek BMW. |

Looks like my move from VAG to BMW will be delayed; I offered $3K under MSRP for a Cayman Black last weekend. The dealer accepted so I will likely close that deal this weekend. Cest La Vie |

I'm #6 on the list. I didn't tell them to go F themselves but they haven't talk to me since they mentioned the markup.
The guy was nice and I worked with him - i understand that this might be something that is controlled by the dealership instead of the dealer but still I'm not too happy with mountain view right now. |

It gets better .. apparently they snatched M4 GTS alloc which would go for $100k over On the other hand, I cannot complain, I got F82 for the reasonable price from them. |

I ordered my M3 from BMW of Mountain View and had a good experience with their Internet Sales Mgr, Michael Borbet. Easy transaction and a fair price. When BMW subsequently offered a $1k credit (after the original deal, but before delivery), he happily gave me the credit. |

My experience with Stevens Creek is so far so good. I think it mostly depends on your CA; however, I dealt with 2 different CA's in BMW of Mountain View and both of them screwed me over.
One of my friends got his last 2 cars from Romeo at Stevens Creek. Although they assigned me a random CA when I put my deposit for M2, I specifically asked for Romeo and he is the most responsive and straightforward CA I have worked with so far. Not to mention, when we filled up my order details, they explicitly wrote and signed on the order form that the car will be sold at MSRP. Anyways, I'm also on the waitlist of East Bay BMW and I haven't seen any BS from them either so far. |

I would never pay above MSRP, I don't think I would ever pay MSRP ever for a mass produced car, but consider this:
How much is the extra year of maintenance 1Yr/14K + coverage of brakes if you were to add this separately on a 2017 model? Add in the ~$300 or so increase you get each year. I would assume around $2.5K? Would if make sense to pay $2.5K above retail on a 2016 to get it now vs being pushed to 2017 and maybe getting an allocation? |

Michael is nice at BMW Mountain view. It's not their faults, they are asking for $5000. Someone above him is putting the price there which makes it harder for him to sell. Their manager called me a couple days ago if I wanted an allocation -> I just told him, I found a launch car, day 1 at MSRP.
They seemed shocked like I found a unicorn - Then apparently unicorns are running wild all over the Midwest... |

Looking for one in the bay area that isn't trying to screw the consumer. So far mt view and Fremont are asking $5k over MSRP. Anyone buy one in the bay area at MSRP??

I had the same terrible experience when I went there last month. The sales person I talked to was spinning up some fantastical story about how the M2 is going to be limited production car so they had to charge the $5000 markup. She even tried to justify that by saying that when the i8 came out they marked that up by $100k.
By the way, BWM of Mountain View and BMW of Fremont are owned by the same company so I am not the least bit surprised that they both charge $5000 over MSRP. |

The other is Peter Pan BMW of San Mateo with over 30 in the wait lists. The first 3 allocations are $10k over MSRP and are still available. After that it's MSRP. |

I called BMW of Monterey about a month ago to be put on the order list and the sales person told me I was #8 on the list, that seems to be the shortest list around the Bay Area. I didn't ask about markups.

Damn it.. I think I'm gonna eat the $5k markup even though I'm cringing each time I think about it. Need a car by July-Aug since someone decided to T-boned my 335xi.
What do you guys think |

I don't think I would. 5K is a lot of money, I know you need a car but thats almost 10% more that the car is.......
