not until the m8 is tested in comparable conditions. comparing this to the f90 is just for reference, but doesn't actually mean anything about the 850 in its respective placement in the car industry.

the m8 will be significantly faster around a track than an 850

I think you're missing the point, BMW purposely put a gap between M performance and M.
It's like comparing a 335i and an E92 M3 back then.

Since when is nearly 1.5 seconds "slightly behind"? This is a fairly short track. 1.5s is quite a bit of time.

Not very far off from the M5! I'd also expect the M8 to marginally faster than the F90.

Over 10 laps the M5 can pull over once it crosses the finish line and have a beer waiting for the 850.

100% agreed. I was so impressed when got my M6 over my 650 Msport although both were F13!
