This is also the first time I've seen it without M-sport package.

Just like on the other models, the side Air Breather should have been only one color, either glossy black or bright chrome/aluminum depending on the trim. I think it would look particularly high-end in all chrome with the chrome window line.

But they made the base piece always black and filled with a quirky shaped smaller piece inside that is either black or chrome/aluminum. It's fine when the whole thing is black as that makes the filling piece invisible (on M Sport or M Performance with Carbon Pack), but when that extra piece is bright colored (on non-Carbon Pack M Performance or base non-M Sport version with chrome line window trim), it really stands out like a weird unnecessary extra detail that visually clogs what is supposed to be perceived as a sporty and functional air vent where air can freely come through. Aftermarket might fix that.

I'm not sure about the rear though. The air vents look a bit awkward and the big recess around the number plate reminds me of some old Mercedes (and not in a good way).

The vent looks just bad. Would be a much sleeker design if the vents and licence plate recess weren't there, or weren't as pronounced.

Digging the non-M Sport 8er.
Kind of sick and tired of seeing all these M-sport versions during launch. Getting old IMO.
Heck, I actually prefer the non-M sport on the current 6.

Agree with you on that one. 6 series had a very distinct rear end this falls short a little

I get the carved out niche styling effect around the rear licence plate, it's fairly consistent with the other lines around, but I don't understand why the heck it is so deep. The height is probably due to having to accommodate the higher US plates, but why that much depth?! It is shallower on the M8 GC Concept while being just as large and just as consistent with the other lines:

It's a more attractive car without all the M sport goodies.

Really wish in the US you could get an M-Sport model with chrome around the windows. I'm in the small majority who prefer the look of the aluminum/chrome trim around the windows over the black plastic trim (unless its alpine white for the exterior color). This model in carbon black and chrome trim looks so good, but we'll never get it.

Exactly, Shadowline for bright colors and chrome line for dark colors 😍 You sure you can't option it there?

I still dream of the beautiful prototype, which was in nothing the precursor of this ill proportioned production version.

When you have to pay such an excessive premium over the G30, I would expect way more than a few cosmeticals. For instance, it could have been at least 5% less in weight. But it seems to be actually 5% heavier (840xd vs 540xd)!

A F90 M5 seems to eclipse this M850 in desirability, driving involvement and practicality while also saving you serious cash. This G15 will depreciate fast and massive, no doubt. Better hold out for a couple of years.

I've seen this done in Canada on a 3er. So I'm sure it's possible.

I'd check with a different dealer.
