Man I was really looking forward to buying this car but this car in the video doesn’t look anything like the car in the revealed at Geneva. I like the front end but the rear seems high like one of the GT series bmw’s. The car is also very tall for a sports sedan, not sleek and low like the 6 series. This seems closer to the X6 than a car series. I hope the performance specs make up for this. Can’t see this handling well with that height. The roof line is up to that average 6’ man’s shoulder

Went here just to comment this, glad I'm not the only one. It's probably riding in comfort setting, or maybe it has an option to elevate the body for ground clearance like the Porsche's.

The 8er coupe and gran coupe are a clean break from the 6 series which has always been on the same chassis as the 5er and they are indeed going to positioned above the 7er. |

However, I was thinking that since this is -kind of- a 6 replacement, it should be positioned as such. I know that the 8 nomenclature requires an "above 7 Series" perception but still... Or, we need the 6 back. 6 is one of the most beautiful BMW's ever built in my opinion. If they keep the 8 at a above M5/ 7 Series price, then they kick themselves in the butt if no 6 will be offered. If the price will be in the range you guys are suggesting, there are many great options in that league, not sure how sales will look like. |

How does this not have a similar height to the 6er GC? Last edited by advantage20; 05-30-2018 at 06:38 PM.. |

While I agree with you that the 6 series has been a classic nameplate for BMW over the years.. BMW has changed it to be a hatchback that might compete with the Porsche panamera. I don't think many Bimwads are happy that the 6 series coupe and has been turned into what the 5GT was any more than the fact that the 2 door M3 is dead because it was turned into a 4 series/M4. The 6 series gran coupe will apparently be reinvented as the 8 series GC and the 6 series coupe is now dead for ever and will come back as an 8 series. you clearly are attached to the old 6er more than BMW.. because they don't give a darn about it or what the M3 coupe used to be, Since BMW has never had both 6 and 8 at the same time.. (until now) they apparently feel ok with this lineup shuffle. The 8er will be the new halo vehicle for the marque... unless BMW decides to defy their own pricing/naming structure. The 6GC was below the 7 in series number order, but it was priced higher than the equivalent 7er. For MY2014, the M Sport Edition was released for the 6Series which included over $9k in additional options for a mere $900 ($5300 vs $4400 for M Sport Package on its own).

Love the look of this car from the front, side, the rear 'shoulders', the color - hell, this is even the first conjoined-twin kidney grille that looks good to me* - but I agree with others who say the lower half of the rear end is kinda crazy.
*The mustache/unibrow grille on the new M2 Comp could learn a lesson from the grille on this beast.

The ride height is crazy when moving, but remember this is just a concept and designed to be shown off in a static setting. I would be amazed if the production car sits that high.
