Really nice video.

Car looks nice as well, if there only would be a bit more space in the back (especially for such a big car)...

Smacks of a marketing video to me, I think maybe Tiff was paid by BMW!

Review? Not even close, more like a 16+ minute infomercial. Love Tiff but if he was ever an automotive journalist he surely isn't one anymore.

He is sometimes if you watch some of his other recent videos.

The issue for all of the YouTube crowd when they head to these driving days as part of a launch is that the brand is there to talk about all of these features and really pushes those points more than anything else. If you watch 5 videos on the same car launch you’ll see that everyone talks about the same features that the brand believes buyers want to hear about.

So he's only a real journalist if he doesn't like the car? If he hated it, he's real, but because he liked it, it must be marketing BS. Gotcha.

I honestly don't know why some of you are even on here, or why you buy/own BMW's - it's like you WANT BMW to fail every time they do something.

No, not at all. I love them, drive them, pay for them and sell them just like you but my sense of integrity forces me to keep it real. To each his own?

that's my point. If he shits all over the 8-Series then he has integrity, because clearly it's impossible for him to genuinely like it - if he says he does, he's a paid shill with no integrity. That's literally what was just said, without any sense of sarcasm or irony.

Whether it's the 8-Series, 3-Series, or a new feature or piece of tech BMW comes out with (like when Wired said the most impressive thing at the LA Auto Show from ALL Brands was BMW's new electric architecture), all anyone does on this site is shit on it. I've never seen anything like it, an entire site full of supposed fans who purport to like and support a brand that instead do absolutely nothing but whine and complain and disagree with anything positive. Are Porsche and Audi and Mercedes sites like this? I mean, Jesus Christ.

You forgot to add "buy them", "drive them" and "pay hard earned money for them" to your list. Criticism when due is healthy and productive. Maybe you think the 8 is beyond criticism of any kind? Is any car? Is any thing?

I have seen the car in person and it is gorgeous. Tiff is not an ordinary youtuber. He was a racing driver and a very skilful proper petrohead.

All the reviews so far have shown that the m850i drives very well and its stock exhaust is probably the best from BMW in recent times. It has been said to be much better than that of M5 competition.

So BMW seems to have a winner here

I like Tiff and yes he likes BMW...if he's being paid, then he's been on the payroll for a long time. I still go back and watch his E63 M6 coupe review of 2006...he loved that car and he loved that M button!

TBH I wanted about 1 inch more legroom in the M8 than what is in the M6 coupe but sadly it was reduced by about 1 inch. While the GC will be a great looking car I prefer a 2 door.

Hope this link works, it shows the reduction in leg room for the rear.

Couple of thoughts on these comments. First, I always look at reviews with a grain of salt. They’re subjective pieces that reflect the reviewer’s biases and axes to grind. Second, I think the 850i is a spectacular car and deserves all its positive reviews. Third, I didn’t realize Tiff loved the 2006 M6 Coupe. I’m going to have to deduct a few points from his judgement because that’s the worst car I’ve ever owned.

Exactly. I’m surprised to see Tiff get some flak here. By “proper” we are talking about a driver with F1 and Le Mans experience here. And a presenter on the OG Top Gear. I can’t think of a single auto journalist in the world with more impeccable credentials.

So after 40+ years in the business, he’s suddenly decided to lose his integrity? Or is it better to trust the yahoos on Youtube that don’t have more driving skill or experience than the average forum poster? (Btw, they like the 8-series too for the most part)

Yup, definitely a BMW paid commercial.

I remember them doing another one before with Tiff for the M4 Competition Package when it was released.

Agreed. And this is about introducing the car and first impressions, not a hardcore review against the competition. I don't believe Tiff would ever say he liked a car that he actually didn't.

I think automotive journalists should find the pros/cons in any car and come up with a review that highlights these features/drawbacks.

In fact, I'd like to know more about a cars shortcomings to see if they matter to me. If I don't hear any negative feedback in a review I'm left to discover the potential issues on my own.
