2020 M850 GC vs something newer

I plan to be maybe be in the market for 2020 m850i GC next year some time. I love the idea of this car and what it offers, but I also wonder the idea of getting it as a 4 year old car, having it for around 5 years and how it will age vs what else is out there. Not that it really matters, but a 2020 MY would be 4 years old and is a bit behind all the new stuff coming out. An m850gc even at 4 years old isn't exactly cheap at $60k. This is relative I know. For the same price, for example, one could get a 2023 m340 with latest design and tech or the new 2023 c43 amg with latest design and controversial 400hp 2.0TT. Maybe not the best examples, but they are german luxury cars with the latest design.

For my money go with the 8 Series - I came from a 330i (that I really liked) to an 840 - chalk and cheese in terms of quality and refinement.

You need to be more clear as to what you want.

If you want the “most up to date tech” then you have millions of options. There are a lot of great EV’s out there that do the tech thing well.

But if you want a powerful and smooth German V8, you have very few choices.

Also, I’m sure you can get a CPO’d model with extended warranty if you search for it.

Pretty sure the 8 series was rated the best luxury resale car to own in 2023 by one of the larger publications in the UK.

Don't compare a 3 series unless you really don't care what you drive. It is not in the same wheelhouse as the 8 series or the C43 for that matter. The C43 is a fantastic car. I had the previous model (2015 C400) with the 329HP TT V6 with a stage 1tune (& few other goodies) pushing 450HP. I just sold it for my 850I that now has roughly 700HP with a stage on tune (& a few others). The C43 2.0 will not be able to push more than another 50HP safely since they are already pushing the limits of the 2.0. Personally, I couldn't fault you for going that route. I owned mine for 9 years and loved it. Just be prepared to replace tires ALL of the time or have a camber kit installed even with factory suspension. 7 sets of tires in 9 years. The worst AWD car I have owned in respect to tire wear. I loved EVERYTHING else about the car.

The M850i (so far) has been a blast.
