Carbon Fiber Grille Installation

Installed my carbon fiber M8 Style grille from German Car Accessories.

Fitment and quality is great, install was rather easy. The piece matches the factory CF parts perfectly and appears more black than photographed.

I created a PDF tutorial for anyone who wants to tackle this

Awesome going to order this vs. the M performance grille then. Save some money

Edit: did you put the m badge back on the grille?

Hmmm I’ve been considering doing this but I almost think the piano black looks better since I already have the carbon package.

I was on the fence too. Since I put a black grille on the wife's 2 series, thought CF was a better choice

Has anyone added an m8 grille badge to these? Looking at my OEM grille it looks like the badge is almost a part of the grill itself. Has anyone removed the grill badge?

I did find these : https://www.ebay.com/itm/31429710189...mis&media=COPY

Not exactly the same as the OEM badge though. The OEM seems to have a housing for the logo

What is the actual length of your M8 badge? This grille measures 2.25 inches across. If your badge is this length, seems would be simple to epoxy it right on

That part you shared looks to clip into the housing I'm talking about. This carbon fiber grille doesn't have the housing so I would assume the only option to retain it is to use the one I shared above. Correct if I'm wrong someone who has done this already..

Agreed but if someone wanted to use the stock badge, couldn't they just trim the back of the stock badge flush and glue it on?

Stock grille is below

Not sure, probably wouldn't stay on very long or look as clean. Wish they had this grille with the housing on it.

If you were to use JB weld 2 part epoxy, it will never come off.

Looks amazing. I just ordered the CF grill and CF mirror caps for my Black M8. Was going to get new wheels but I really like the OEM wheels from my 2020 so I am going to get them powdercoated gloss black. Thanks for the tutorial. I downloaded it and it should be very helpful.

Glad to be of help. The side clips are are the only minor challenge with the the install. If you run into any issues, feel free to ask.

Question, are you able to pull the grill inserts from the carbon frame or is it all one piece?

I don't recall....I believe you can do that with the stock grille. I see where you are going with it, use the stock M8 center double slat?
