M8C w/ Drivers Package OEM tires?

Can anyone comment on the tires that come OEM on a 23M8C? Id it true that they have different tires if you order the driver’s package? My dealer was unable to identify the tires that would come on my car. Thanks in advance,

I dont think the two items (tires and the package) are correlated. I think its all about supply at the time of certain builds.

I dont have the M Drivers yet got the best tires I feel ...

That’s exactly what started my question. I saw several sets of “like new” take offs in the classifieds and variety of tires shown. I also saw a comment that the m drivers package comes with a unique tire. I bought the package and was hoping to get some feedback. It’s also a reflection of me just trying to answer questions that will answer themselves if my car would just find a way out of port and onto a ship!

I just dont think the two are related as I had the M Drivers on my M5 and got the PZeros and then had the M Drivers on my 2020 M8 GC and got PS4's and now dont have the M Drivers and have PS4's.

Which goes back to my personal thoughts that tires are what are readily available and both brands are sufficient for the package in terms of speed.

Thank you. With all of your real world experience, which tires do you prefer? Any comments on why are appreciated.

I purchased drivers packages after i bought the cars twice. Never got any new tires with it.

If you order your car with drivers package and winter tires that maybe different - Because of the speed limit of different tires?

Oh Im going to be in the minority here but:

Im not a professional and I dont track my cars so in reality both the PZeros and the PS4's are well designed street OEM tires when up to proper temps.

There might just be a bit more grip on the PS4's in the dry but the PZeros felt better in the wet. (I had PZeros on my 21 G80 M3 and now have PS4's on my 22 G80X and now on my M8).

Some will swear they lost a tire lottery with the Pzeros but I dont see it and 99% of the M owners wont either. I have the PZeros on my Porsche and while they are NA1 (designed for that car) they are really grippy.

You will be just fine with either.

Agreed. I initially had p-zeros on my m8 and they felt grippier in the moist. They did however only last 4k miles for some reason. Have ps4s now and less than half wear at 2k miles so hopefully lasts a little longer.

Tire experience at 30,000 miles 2020 M8 Comp

M8 came with the Pirelli P zeros, wanted the Michelin 4S. Not available.
P Z0's lasted maybe 8 track days, no grip and got over 175 temp.
Were great on the wet skid pad, since they had no grip when pretty bald.
i recommend them when bald on skid pad !! Perfect, no grip, makes hanging tail out easy !!

Next TOYO 888 185- 30-20. Much Better than PZ'0s, but LOUD !! Lasted 16 -18 track days.
Now have Goodyear F1 R. GREAT TIRE !! Both track and street tire. Amazing wear and they stick and don't get hot. I have H & R springs, which helped with even wear i'm sure.

I have Michelin 4S for street, quiet and good in the rain.
i've owned BMW'S since 1973, a 2002, and the M8 is just amazing !!

A perfect drug !!

My 2023 M8 Comp Vert came with the P Zeros. And yes, I do have the M driver's package, but like Vic says I doubt that had much to do with anything.

I'm sure they would be fine in a warm climate, but I currently live in the Pacific NW, so I just took them off and put on Michelin Pilot All Season 4s, which I'm much happier with, given the cold weather situation I face.

What kind of track are they lasting multiple track days, NASCAR oval? Neither will last one 1/2 day on a road course. I’ve run both hard, no difference, but I have no wet/dry comparison.

I'm guessing his track days are like mine... An HPDE with multiple groups where you get something like 4 or 5 20 minute sessions including warm-up and cool down laps. You're lucky if you get 100 miles/ 1 tank of gas in a full day. I doubt it'd get 8 days in... maybe like 3 or 4.

Regarding the tires that come as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) on the BMW M8 Competition, this can vary depending on factors such as the specific trim level, optional packages, and regional variations. Tires can also be subject to change based on availability and updates from the manufacturer.

My car w/ the M Driver's Pack came with the same Pirelli P-Zero's that most of ours came with.

I hope this helps...

I have the M driver’s package on my M8CC (2024 MY) and got the Michelin PS4’s. I concur, however, with others that the outcome comes down to luck of the draw at the date of production. Additionally, they both have the same speed rating, so I don’t think there is a 196 v 155 mph decision point for BMW M as the manufacturer.

Over the course of several M vehicles I’ve had both Pirelli’s and Michelin’s, with all of that time living and driving in south Florida. Here we have frequent atmospheric rivers during monsoon/hurricane season (May-October) as opposed to Cali which gets them every so often during their winter months, sometimes years apart. Ours also come with much higher rainfall totals. I think in 25 years we have had 2-3 so-called “100 year rains.” 20-plus inches over 2 days type of rain.

I would defer to Vic on most points as his roster of vehicles and driving experiences clearly top mine, but I feel strongly that the Michelin’s consistently perform better in the wet, and that it’s not even close. If you are located in an area where you frequently have heavy rain, I would advise switching Pirelli for Michelin when you get to make the choice. In the dry or on the track I will defer to others on feel/performance although with road driving I do feel the PS4’s observed tread life is slightly better. My $0.02 is that they channel water better and are much less likely to hydroplane, which is where the vehicle and your life are in God’s hands.

Trust me, living in the Seattle area has given me some familiarity with rain: The PS4s are the gold standard, this is both the conventional wisdom if you ask around and my own experience with a good many tires.

I would not say the best per se; but they are a great all-rounder and very reliable and consistent. You don't see them one way on one car and another on the next.

I am talking about conditions they are suitable for; shouldn't have to add that but you know how the internet is these days.
