Enabling Anti-Dazzle with Bimmercode - Easy

This is from the X3 forum, but I also made the same change on my M8 and it seems to have worked. You literally only have to change one setting since the other seems to be already set. I'd be curious to know if in the end this produces the same results of using eSys. But here you go if you want to give it a try...

To ENABLE Anit-Dazzle:
Using Bimmercode EXPERT MODE

Under Body Domain Controller

3532 LaMaster3

C_HBA_ENA> enable (Should already be set to ENABLE) if you have previously done the factory software update.
C_HBA_GFHB_ENA>enable

That is it. Keep in mind that in order for the Anti-Dazzle to work the following things must be true:
--Auto High Beam button must be ON and active
--Must be going over 37 mph which is the point in which Auto High -------Beam activates High Beam
--Must be dark enough outside for AHB to function
--If you are below 37 mph and want to manually use High Beam you can but it will blind people in front of you since Anti-Dazzle won't be functioning.
--Also, if you use the Manual High Beam you will disable Anti-Dazzle until you turn the manual high beam back off.

If set correctly with AHB will turn your blue High Beam light will remain on while you are behind vehicles or if they are approaching you.

I coded it as explained above by Snare.

Due to my urban environment, it's not easy for me to determine if my high beams are actively moving and masking itself as intended. The cut-off line based on the car in front of mine seems to be normal with the new config.

However, I did get high beamed by an oncoming car which caused me to abort the experiment. When I go see my sis out east one day soon, I'll give it another stab.

Thanks again!

I haven't been flashed in either car since I did the coding. Here are some pics I took of the light tunneling with my X3. I'd say overall the feature as it seems to be working is a bit more of a novelty than overly practical, but I still like it. Which is also part of what makes me wonder if coding with eSys would have any better/different outcome.

Right so my question is how different the result is between the two because seems like there was a ton of settings to change if you were doing it the real way and I'm only changing one thing with Bimmercode

As a UK owner that has a 840i with anti dazzle from the factory that works like a dream I can’t help wondering if, based on the comment above about being ‘flashed’ by an oncoming car, it is set up for those us that drive on the correct side of the road and might work ‘the wrong way round’ for those that drive on the left.

Mine is switched on permanently and once all parameters are met it fires up and works beautifully, lighting verges, main beam on even when car coming in opposite direction without causing them problems, illuminating motorway signs, etc. Fantastic bit of kit.

This was on my ride home tonight so it definitely does something but like I said I'm curious of this simple fix compared to the official coding. I have a local friend that can do real coding so I'm going to try and get with him and see if I can tell a difference

I wonder if all of those are accessible via the Expert mode in Bimmercode

I retrofitted the Euro Spec Laser lights in my X5M50i and had them coded appropriately. I also had the anti dazzle coded in the M850i by someone locally.

While it works a little better than stock, the Euro version is definitely a lot better in how it cuts around other cars.

I had mine coded by Bimmer Remote and it seems to work perfectly and has survived two OTA software updates. It seem to turn brights on over 20 mph

So, on my M8 I did this today using ProTool, it's still light out so I haven't tested it but I did notice that when in Auto lights, the Auto High beam button no longer activated when you push it the icon doesn't show up like it did before. Is this normal since the system will just run anti dazzle now?

I'm pretty sure everything works/looks the same as before in the dashboard - if I remember correctly.

Yeah it just needed to be dark for that button to work.. but I can not get Anti Dazzle to work.. one problem is I can't find Kafas4 I found it before but it can't remember how, it isn't in the ECU list.

I have verified every setting in my car is set correct, I removed 5AP but they still aren't working :-(

Update: went for a drive from Fort Worth to Dallas, the high beams come on and stay on alllllot more. I noticed they would shut off as I passed a car and would come right back on.. since the highway is well lit I couldn't see a big difference.. maybe I'll go for a drive in the county tomorrow.

You will notice if anti-dazzle is working, it really is a dynamic lighting system.
You will see lights shutting on and off quickly in various spots in the light field.

I don't think you have anti-dazzle working yet, there is a noticeable difference between the two.
