M850i Brake Pads question and Discovery

The front brake pads on my m850 are needing to be replaced and I've been shopping around for a better solution so I can fix the brake dust the oem ones produce. I found EBC Redstuff to be a good option for me but upon trying to buy them for the m850i, it seemed that the only options for me were yellow and blue stuff pads which are way too track-focused for me and have performance issues when cold, they also don't do that much to the dust compared to oems.

Undeterred I kept looking and found a website that sold EBC redstuff pads for the m850i and it apparently fit a bunch of other M performance cars to my surprise it was the rears. This led to the discovery that the rears are shared on many many cars even the M8 which will make replacing them much easier when the time comes which I doubt is new information to you folks but it was for me .

Regardless I thought why not look at the sizing of the yellow stuff pads available and compare them to the redstuff pads that fit on the m550i, surprisingly all the measurements matched.

Now my question is with all the pad sizings matching but the compatibility checker still coming back negative do I risk buying them only to find out they do in fact not fit. I have seen someone with an m550i fit m850i calipers and EBC redstuff so I assume they do indeed exist.

Here are the pads in question: (The redstuff pads I'd like to fit) https://www.gprdirect.com/ebc-brakes...d-set-dp32304c
(The yellowstuff pads I compared to) https://www.gprdirect.com/ebc-brakes...d-set-dp42304r

Any reason you're not opting for the ISweep pads? Just ordered these:

Here is my post/experiment with the ISWEEP 1500's on my M8 from a different thread:

r33_RGSport

So recently I saw Ben and added the I Sweep 1500 pads on all four corners. Ben has a Black Friday sale going on now and the pads are free and he will pay you to watch him install.

So I wanted to see the efficiency of the pads in all regards. So far the bite is very similar to OEM; maybe just a minute more pedal travel but I really dont notice it at all. Under heavy heavy load it still stops and I have not and will not track the car so I think its a great replacement from a functional standpoint.

But lets stop the bullshit, I only got them because of the dreaded BMW brake dust and now with my BBS wheels it was more imperative that I get the dust reduced. I did a test where I placed a piece of masking tape and then drove the car only on the streets (much more braking) for about 103 miles give or take a few tenths and this is what I have now:

Before (clean car and washed reasonably well)

After the 103 miles and of course no wash. Remember this was over 100 miles of street, not expressway, driving and you can see optically with my camera's zoom that there are some particles but in reality its pretty outstanding.

I would go iSweep route if they were available in the UK, not interested in spending an arm and a leg for a perishable. Saying that I don't actually know the pricing of said pads if shipped to the UK.

I've contacted EBC regarding the query and they told me that the reason it might not be listed for the m850i might be because its a heavy and powerful car, which is understandable if they weren't being sold for the m550i which is pretty similar

Going to go ahead any buy it and let you guys know if there's a European alternative to the ISweep magic.

Assuming the EBC redstuff pads that OP found fit. Another reason to get them is that they are available on FCP euro which as we all know have that great warranty.

Front: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...rakes-dp32304c

Also I believe these are the rears which are currently unavailable: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...rakes-dp32320c

OP can you confirm this is the right part number? Other websites state that dp32320c is the part number for rears for an M8.

The factory pads have left and right pieces on the top of the oem pads. These sweeps do not. Is that they way they are supposed to be? Just install them as is??

Any bedding in suggestions for these or just the usual hard braking several times at speed?

No bedding needed. It is a street pad.

That weight on the stock pad is to reduce squealing.
ISweep don't need it since it doesn't squeal.

Hi.

Sorry for the radio silence, I managed to get it fitted this monday and have been testing it, it fits well my oem brake pads were completley gone when I took them off they were stuck to the pistons getting them removed leaked a bit of brake fluid from the master cylinder due to the pressure probably should have opened the cap for it, oh well heindesight 20/20.

Using them has been great, they did squeel at first but over ~50 miles they started getting more queit. Pedal feel was noticabilly softer compared to the oem I had before(could be wear difference) I honestly need more time to come to a proper conclusion but so far so good, they slow me down.

The rears should fit as long as the sizing matches with my post I mentioned that the rear pads are shared across many models so you might find it in stock under a different car model again just make sure the dimensions are the same 121.9 x 117.6 x 18.1 for the fronts
and 116.1 x 74.8 x 16.7mm for the rears I believe its wider on one side (80.8mm) so double check it possibly due to wear sensor not sure why.

The fronts I fitted part number: DP32304C

Dont think I'll be able to report on the brake dust preformance of it since the roads here have gotten dirty with all the snow and salt I'll try to wash it before a hard drive and report back with my findings.

Been driving on the Isweep 1500's on the fronts for the past several days. Can't say I notice anything different from the stock pads other than no dust! Can't wait for the rears to be delivered!
