Drivetrain Malfunction

Well my turn this evening for some drama.

Have driven around 400 miles in the car over the past 3 days.

Did a hard 30 mile drive today, very fast etc, but then the rest of the day in Eco Pro.

Car has been faultless, but this evening it started shaking violently and the Drivetrain Malfunction warning came up.

Car is being recovered.

Any ideas?

Any change after restarting? Any fluids on the ground? Any burning smells? Does it shake in PArk or only when driving?

It didn't change after restarting, but have arranged for the car to be collected tomorrow so I can check it overnight.

No smells - no idea about fluids as it's dark, so will check in the morning.

It shakes while parked, as well as when driving.

Not good, but Youtube seems to suggest spark plugs.

Hi very sad to hear and wishing you the best! Have you tried or do you have the option to read motor fault codes via app? Of course you need to hook up to obd but it would perhaps disclose something as to what caused that state.

Suggest to reset your ECU to stock before the dealer gets the car...

I wasn't aware the OP altered his...could be part of the issue and yet another reason to avoid mods.

Have got my tuner coming to me this morning.

The map has been on the car for 8 months, so unlikely to be the cause of the issue.

So my tuner is going to pick up the car, and do the repair themselves which is handy - and means they can see exactly what and why something has gone wrong.

It could be the mods.

It could well be, but it's not necessarily something they can confirm.

The diagnosis is a single injector which was causing issues, so that will be replaced in the morning and the car returned to me thankfully!

Fortunately it's "only" the single injector so I would say damage limited and the fact that they will take it on them speaks for their goodwill and more. Indeed mods are not necessarily the culprit of everything. Yes there may be a higher risk of issues when running them, but then again there are people out there who have driven BMWs or any other brands' generations of cars with all sorts of mods, including engine ECU tunes and never had a problem related to that. Great you will get your Sunset ride back this soon.
