Would the M8 Akrapovic exhaust fit onto an M850i?
Akrapovic have a new exhaust system for the M8, which looks and sounds mega.
However, as the owner of a lowly M850i, I'm contemplating whether the exhausts are the same on both cars, and thus whether the Akrapovic system would work. https://www.akrapovic.com/en/car/pro...73&yearId=6074 Does anyone have any insight? Thanks M |

I do seem to remember at that time, however, that it mattered which version of the M850 you have. Mine is the M850 GC...which is yours?

NO, it will not fit they told me. It is specifically designed for the M8. Else they would state it on their site I guess. Still, one wants to be sure. It's a pity but hopefully there are other good and valid alternatives.

I wonder if it can me modified or adapted to fit on the coupe. The GC is probably a no go, but I can't imagine it would be to hard to make the m8 fit the M850i exhaust with some adapter or welding.

Hi Res,
who knows it might be as you say. Just for information today I contacted them because I was curious as well. An official distributor from Italy took my inquiry which I made to Akrapovic this very morning and his answer can be translated as follows: "Consider that often Akrapovic themselves, in order to obtain best performance results, make significant changes, where possible, to the configuration as well as to the sub-chassis part of the entire exhaust system itself, making it installable only on the mentioned specific model". Now I am no expert of exhausts to say whether it could be modified or not. I guess some qualified and experienced carshop could give an answer as to what mods would be necessary to make it fit - and if it's feasible at all? |
