The AUTO BILD article is a terrific comprehensive review. Straight line speed (0-100, 0-200 km/h), handling (lap times), comfort, price and a rating taking 17 factors into account.

Thanks in advance, now that we've got the R8 and 911 Turbo S out of the way, do you have anything similar comparing Panamera GTS/Turbo, and/or AMG GT R/GT 63S w/ the M8 Comp Coupe/GC?

That would take care of the M8 Comp competitors.

To give credit where credit is due the '21 TT-S is one hell of a car, incredible lineage, superbly made, blistering performance, phenomenally engaging driving experience, the integration/flow of the cab's top is sublime, the interior is every bit as nice as the M8's and far better resale. For years I only drove P-turbos and even sold a new F-car going right back to another new P-turbo. Now I just find the 911's too small, and have gone the way of large GT's with the M850/M8 checking most of the boxes for me these days. I had two new back-back MB S550 coupes before the M850 which were amazing large GT's with superb fit/finish and wonderful amenities, but the 8's are far more engaging to drive. Why the 8 coupe's don't offer some of the extra options the GC's do is beyond me. Back to the P-TT's, I really drove my turbos and used every drop of performance from them, even going as far as having Kremmer do the engine in one for me . But alas, with age comes less of the need for pure speed and more of a compromising combo with comfort as well...here I am 2019 M850 and all.

At my age that's exactly where I'm coming from.

Did you drive the AMG GT R and/or GT 63S?

Ordered a new AMG GTC when they first were coming out before I was able to try/see it in the flesh, when it came in I was super excited, but it was too low to the ground for me as my DD, and would have been coming out an SCoupe so it felt like a go-kart; superb powertrain and nice looking (rare instance where a roadster looks better than the coupe version). Coming out of a 911 and going to the GTC would have been better for me. I think the GT 63S looks hideous and I am just not a fan of "4-door sports cars". If I were forced to buy one the BWW GC would win. Now, if Porsche would bring back the 928 I'd be all over it, had a few back in the day and loved them!

Doesn't have to be AUTO BILD. Any other publication w/ a comprehensive review of those cars would be great. Thanks very much.

I love Porsches I've had 3 in the past and besides them being actually pretty reliable beyond the bs light bulb errors and nonsense the engine and transmission were both very reliable for me they were certainly fast cars, light and peppy but I'm still pretty happy with my beemer in bothspeed and comfort as well. no complaints. Well deserved victories for those top 3 cars though! 👍🏾

A Panamera with a shorter wheelbase and two doors would be my perfect next car. 630PS, 770NM and about the same weight as my M6 Coupe with a bit of wheelbase chopped out. Dual clutch gearbox, even a bigger fuel tank - absolutely perfect!

Wouldn't that just be sublime! I've been hearing P would do something like this for years now aka 929 etc but it never materialized, probably due to the stupid SUV craze and all those bitchy insecure wives that wont let their husbands have a proper 2 door sports/GT car forcing them to get 4 door versions....unfortunately I actually know some "men" in this boat and many even have multiple cars in the household perfectly suited to tote the kids etc around

Great one RJ and imagine back then how ahead of its times this car was! Well as an owner you definitely will have known it. I remember being a small kid in the 80ies and seeing and loving the 924 model and that was (in Germany for sure) something big out of the ordinary as well.

Still dreaming of the day and given my height issues with the coupe a cabriolet may be my answer. So I spent some time this evening to build the following beauty (and of course was overwhelmed by the dizzy amount of options but chose the most that made sense). It clocks in at about $230K and will leave me some room in my next and final $250K hurrah in the automobile world for a used sensible sedan to drive when top down in the 911 is not viable.

Color wise I'm still in love with a dark blue and red interior similar to my current M850i but that may change moving forward when I'm ready to buy in roughly 2 years. For now though I think this 992 Turbo S is a thing of beauty including the leather choice (did not choose all red but the red/black option which puts black on the dash and pillars).

The turbo is fast as f*** and beautiful, but I'd still go Carrera T/S or GT3 purely for a sublime Porsche Manual Transmission.

Not to mention the GT3 is normally aspirated with a 9k redline that sounds mellifluous at full growl

Ah the irony as I shamefully have zero interest in a manual transmission. However to your point though this Throttle House drag race, etc. of the 992 Carrera S vs a C8 Z51 and the all but forgotten Supra (based on the results) proves it in a cabriolet format may be all that I need.

The amazing PDK should be available in the new 2021 GT3 (it was in 19)
