A good color would be what? White, Grey, or black?

Always get a kick out of reviews for these tour of cars, especially when they start talking about large items going into the trunk/boot with the seats down. Don't think that's a key selling point.

For someone new to the brand, I suspect the M850 would check all the boxes without any argument.
Although not specifically regarding the M8 GC vs M850i GC this article pop'd up in my news feed today. https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/09/10/i...an-the-bmw-m8/

Oops.

Apologies, I misread the intent. Sorry about that, @mpop302.

It's frozen dark silver.

Thanks for steering me straight, Bee.

limeypride 100% agree that the car out of the factory just needs a few tweaks. The only thing I would "fix" is the wheel gap and lower the car. Everything else about it is perfect, although I am not sure I'd pay the 20-30K premium over my F90.

Matt's CarWow reviews are in a special category: entertaining while informative.

M8 GC represents perhaps the apex of performance, luxury, and utility before entering an entirely different price tier.

It's a winner for me.

Still not over the fact that they decided to remove the kink, and will likely never will. That is the only fault I can find with this car because it's so obvious and sticks out in negative way - it's just chopped off like they ran out of material.

Other than that, the 8er Gran Coupé continues where the F06 6er Gran Coupé left off - overall the best BMW in all aspects.

Great color, nice to see a beautiful red every once in a while instead of the dreary grey, silver and black everyone seems to be buying.

Yes but knowing you in a year or so you'll have a different car entirely!

I too have a gray car, really don't care for the color but it was the only car on the lot with all the options I wanted. For the next one I'm definitely going to get something less boring color wise.

True true. But I'll probably go for Donington next time and wrap it in matte PPF.

Super review! I find it somewhat worrying that the alpha dog of M is indeed a nuclear missile, but also lackluster engaging. I wonder how Porsche succeeds with its Panamera then?

They don't, Panamera's suffer the same issues as the 8er. They sit on lots and require large discounts (especially Sport Turismo's), there are a good portion of low milage turbo's (like only test drive milage) that are 2-years old and still new or now demo's/CPO for sale.

Yes, but isn't the Panamera a more engaging drivers' car?

Not really, its not terrible, the car drives well and is incredibly composed, but by Porsche standards the car is pretty numb and doesn't differentiate itself from the competition other than the PDK, and above all else its heavy and not completely agile. I'd still say the AMG GT4D is class leader in driving dynamics particularly because of its more engaging handling, the AMG V8, and transmission setup that just feels more raw and agile while driving, however some may find that a downside in this class. Apparently the Panamera refresh will be more driver focused.

This is my 10th full-blooded M-car and I find it more than sufficiently engaging. That's not to say it drives like a track king but BMW did a great job striking a balance between GT and driver's car—the former being essential in this class/category. I love it.

So the new Panamera will blow the BMW away?

My old car (640i) looked good in hard top GC. I don't feel it as much on the 8. Something happens around the back doors that I can't put my finger on, and they changed the back too much for me. I much prefer my coupe.

But, an M8 version inside will be the best of both worlds in a way. The driver gets all the fun in the front, yet there's space in the back for it to be more practical.

I loved CW's reviews of the 8 series. Between the DELAAYYYYYYYYY in ordering and getting my car, I watched videos like his all the time.
