Newest BMW 8 series owner

Hi folks,

I've been lurking in this forum for a few months while I shopped for an eight series. I appreciate the great community, the opinions, and info you share.

I have been looking for a lightly used or new BMW and was looking at everything from 2023 Alpinas and M8Cs to new 850s. I just purchased a 2024 M850i today and will pick it up later this week (I promise I'll post pics then!).

I did a LOT of research and made a spreadsheet of every car in the US I could find that met my specs (B&W stereo and both drivers assistance packages were my only mandatory options). This included cars from the top 10 largest dealers in the US and Cargurus (there was some overlap). Just in case anyone is looking to buy a new or lightly used 8, I'm happy to share my spreadsheet (which was last updated about 1pm eastern time).

Here's the link, feel free to make a copy for yourself and I hope it helps others. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

Congrats, we can't wait to see the new M850! You will spend the next several weeks generating smiles with the miles, as well as discovering all the new tech - there is a lot.

I hope so! The Wife and I have a two-week driving trip up the east coast and into Canada and then back soon. I timed the purchase so as to have the new BMW for it.

Amusingly, my Wife tried to talk me out of taking the "new car" because she thought I wouldn't want to put that many miles on it. She understands I'm a car guy, but doesn't understand how we think, LOL!

As a matter of fact, the wifey and I are about to depart on another long road trip this week (second road trip to California from Colorado). I drive a convertible, so we simply use soft duffel bags to pack in. Very comfortable and the top will be down for many stops along the way. Eventual destination is Paso Robles for some visits to wineries. A road trip is a great way to get to know the car! Safe travels.

I pick it up tomorrow evening! In the meantime, here's a few shots that the dealer sent me (letting me know it had arrived).

Congrats on the new M850i and the gorgeous spec! Fiona Red/Black is a bit controversial but chose it for mine along with Tanzanite Blue for exterior. Key being when behind the wheel one only gets to see the exterior on the long sloping hood vs living in the interior and the Fiona Red/Black is a gorgeous sight in my eyes and just makes me flat out happy.

Also looks like you have the B&W audio which you'll absolutely love once dialed in. There's older threads in which I share my EQ settings, trim settings, etc. honed over time for my coupe that make the B&W shine to its fullest capabilities.

Congrats! Beautiful! And definitely do yourself a favor and look up bloozeman B&W settings. I just thought it was good before dialing it in…now there aren’t words to describe how amazing that sound system is! Enjoy!

My apologies for the delay, but here are a few pictures. Still stock (will likely be for a good long while). I am having ceramic coating applied tomorrow and am considering a PPF for the front end (would appreciate any thoughts on that).

I have about 250 miles on it now and I think the thing that surprises me most is how LOW and wide it is. It's just hard to capture that in pictures. It's just an absolute dream to drive!

Great looking car. Similar colors to what I’m considering. Had a Space Gray/Fox Red E90 M3 for 6 years and this reminds me of that, but a much better long distance cruiser. Is Fiona Red as bright as the pictures show?
