M8 grill on M850?

Does it fit? I like the double slats vs single on my M850. I can try to take the M8 badge off if it fits. Also, looks like the newer ones on LCI will all have the double so I am curious if that could be retrofitted?

I purchased a M8 grill from German car accessories to convert my chrome grill to black and it fits fine.

Thanks so much. My dealer is quoting 3+ hours of labor because they say they have to remove bumper. Does not seem consistent with what I am reading. How was the installation?

Doesn't need bumper removal - black panel needs removing on the top, then you can access the the grille. Takes 30 mins tops. Just be careful with the front mounted camera when pulling the grille out.

Thanks for the information and just had it installed! Apparently the M8 grill is not the perfect fit so a few top panels had to be snapped off but the dealer did the work. Love the double slats!

Did you end up putting the other M8 badges on too?

What do you mean? It has a dark “8” so not very noticeable at all. I actually was able to pull it off but there is a hole back there so looks odd. 2023 M850is all have M logo on grill so if you are worried about diluting its already too late lol. I just like the look of double slats vs single so thats why i did it

Genuinely asking if you did. Sometimes people add the little body stuff that makes the models different. It's not like you stuck an M3 badge on a 320i.... lol

No, the 23s don't. I'd take off the 8 from the grille.

Looks much better with double slats, took the 8 off mine and kept the M, couple tabs on top of original M grill need to be snapped off in half only, they would still go in the slots.

That's a Euro version…..the US one won't have it. I believe the Euro M performance models all have it on the fenders, too.

Is the replacement grille just gloss black or black chrome like the original M850 grille with shadowline?

The US models seem to have it. Check out configurator and US release videos

It drives me bonkers at times about M and M sport. Go to the BMW build site and look for a specific series, and it brings up BOTH M and M sport models for M cars....Been to several dealerships several years ago and was told by some SA that the M sport is the same as the M except for the motor....what a white lie.... BMW truly needs to either make sure the M is the ultimate M and keep it separate from other models in their model build site. Because of the BMW sales approach, I am fine with anyone putting M badges on their BMW regardless of model.

Totally agree. “What is M?” has almost become a philosophical question lol. I think nowadays it means track car only as they are also mostly rolling out competition only models in the US. Most others are opting for the almost M cars because they are more than adequate

has anyone removed the active grill on the m850i ? I removed mine and now have a check engine light. I left the motor plugged in so not sure what setting it off? I scanned the code which was 138802 ( radiator blind top limit not reached ) tried clearing it but check engine light came back on after I drove the car. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of that code?

I’m literally mid-swap on my grille and I cannot get the two side clips to release. How’d you do it? I’ve pried and pulled the clips to no avail.

Edit-I just wasn’t pulling hard enough. I tried forever releasing the clips from the inside…finally just yanked the s**t out of both sides and they popped loose. Just have to be careful not to pull the whole grill away and rip the camera wires from the center front camera. Turned out great in the end.
