skumar55 don’t use Carwow, they’re useless for BMW and also don’t offer the best discount.

If you’re after an M440, then contact Tony Lewis (TRL Deals), he’s based out of Berry BMW near London.

If you’re after an 8, then get a quote online via Coast2Coast and Broadspeed, then take that to the dealer. You should be able to get 20% if not more off list price on an 8.

I’ve had two 840i’s (Coupe first, now a GC) and they’re absolutely lovely cars. It is 100% pushing out more than the quoted power - as pretty much every B58 engine in a lower state of tune is. Loads of videos of Supras etc pushing over 360hp as standard.

Thanks mate for your good advice, I think the 840i series is now my favourite car to get. Will contact the dealer again. There is about £50 - £70 difference in monthly PCP between the M440 and 840i. Thanks again

I was pleasantly surprised by the power - certainly feels more than quoted.

It does doesn’t it. I had a sport on with a new shape Audi S5 not so long ago and pulled away from it - they’re supposed to be 350ps and 700nm.

You think it's fast as a 440i M Sport?

Not driven one to compare mate, but I suspect if you lined them up then the M440i would be the faster car, especially off the mark as it’s xDrive.

I know which car I’d rather have though!

So I have decided to go for a 8 series GC, 840i M Sport GC. Not test driven one, but with all the advice I have been given on here and from others, all say 840i GC is very good car. It was a tough choice between 840i and the M440i. The exterior looks of the 840i has swayed my decision. Just trying to sort out the PCP with my local dealer, but he said earliest build slot is around November this year ;-(. Thanks everyone on here.

Wow - November! Thought things had got better. Guess I got lucky with getting mine in 2 months. Congrats on the car - I’m sure you’ll love it! What colour and combo did you go for?

skumar55 I’d try a different dealer or ask them to look at what’s in group stock / on the way. There were loads when I looked at them not long ago. Factory build I was quoted 9-12 weeks.

Looks like i will be going for this:

https://configure.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/configid/u727eqn7

I do like the Tanzanite Blue ii as well. So its a choice between these 2. Yeah November the dealer said, where as the M440i you can get within 3 months. Thank you ;-)

I will check with group stock and will check with Sytner instead of Rybrook, thought BMW were quicker with their factory build cars compared to others. Will check group stock as well, thanks mate.

I’m sure you’ll definitely get a car quicker than November mate if you shop around. In the meantime, here’s some inspiration if you’re fancying Tanzanite blue…

skumar55 yeah that’s mine mate - the colour is amazing, especially in the sun! Has the contrasting Ivory leather too, which looks really good, but just needs that bit more maintenance to keep clean!

Looks amazing mate, well done, congrats on it. I will consider the blue. How is the car to drive locally and on Motorways? I do 2 days motorway driving, and few days local town driving. You must be well pleased with your car? Def the best BMW range? ;-)

That Dravit Grey looks really nice. TB is gorgeous too - nearly went with that. In the end wife convinced to go with San Remo - no regrets. But whatever you choose it’ll look good I’m sure and as long as you’re happy with it that’s all that counts.

9-12 is much more reasonable. skumar55 I’d definitely look around with other dealers. Did you get the price discount you wanted?

It’s a superb long distance cruiser - super comfortable & refined. I’m the same - I drive to Leeds and back once or twice a week. It’s also incredibly frugal given it’s a petrol and the performance on tap - I can easily see 41/42mpg at a steady motorway cruise.
It can feel a little crashy over the poorer roads, but all BMWs are like that really! Yeah I love it - it’s my second 8 series.

Out of interest actually, was your lead time quoted based on individual paint or just a normal metallic? I believe that can slow orders down sometimes.
