Its a different kind of fun--- you wont get that run off the line but you will love the turn in on short corners and the damper system is really dialed with the chassis and springs. It reminds me of the way my E39 M5 felt, solid and just soaked up the bumps.

I thought I had posted these, but I guess not here. It's Dravit with Cognac, has all the options. I flew to Palm Beach and drove it home to Ohio.

Posts like these is making it real hard for me to decide which one to get. Hands down was going the M850 route until the G80 came out. Haven't come across too many comparisons by G80 and M8/M850 owners. Still have 6 months but ultimately will come down to which one gets me the better deal. First world problems.

So its a blessing to have choices... If I could only have one, Id take the M8 of course but:

The M3 is fast enough and more fun around the city and entering and exiting turns and bends. It drives better. But the sheer torque and acceleration of the 8 can not be denied. Now with the AWD M3 coming out, things could get more interesting but I am loving the RWD version as its steering is really point and shoot with less front end drivetrain understeer.

The 3 is still a 3 from the inside with the luxury not equal to the 8 nor should it be based on price. But for 80k the car is badass, fun, responsive, and drives like a car lighter than its actually weight. BMW M did a great job with bolstering up the chassis and subframes to hide the weight in driving feel. I think Ill drive this for about a year and then get the AWD version but this RWD car does launch rather well compared to its predecessor (F8X). And dare I say this but the seats in the G8X are possibly more comfortable than the 8 and closer to my old F90 M5 in regards to comfort.

Random pictures of your 8-series or M8's

Agreed on the point and shoot Vic55 ! The regular seats in this m3c really surprised me as well. Close to the feel of the x6mc seats without all the added tech.

I did notice that the assisted drive in the m3c corrected and responded better than the assisted drive in the m8. Not sure if y'all are fans of that type of tech. Might also just be a software upgrade thing that needs to happen on my m8.

Having tried both, from a driving standpoint it was a tie for me. What got me is I'm not sure I can look past the lack of luxury like you mentioned. At the end of the day it's still a 3 interior wise and it shows imo. M3 also felt a little small to me but that's probably because I've only had 5 series. The 8 was incredible and definitely brought an all day grin to my face.

Now price wise, neither bothers me but trying to be somewhat responsible given I work from home half the week so drive time is pretty non-existent except weekends. Hoping for some decent end of year incentives/truck money on the 8 but time will tell on that. I think the days of 20+ off are over given the recent cost reduction but if I could get in that ballpark it'd be a no brainer.

Just picked up today and I am absolutely delighted with the car. Had a nice run along the Scottish coast with plenty of twisties to get the Ferry back to N Ireland. Lovely weather and an awesome machine!
