WTF....car keeps dying if I don't lock it for few hours. It's fine if locked...?

My M8 has now died 3-4 times in the last few days and I have narrowed it down to it only happening when I don't lock the car and leave it for a few hours. However, if I lock the car....it's totally fine...even overnight.

What could be going on?

Funny this is when I hook up the jumper cables from my M8 to our X7, it comes on immediately (even without starting either car). Then it starts fine.

i use 'lock when walk away' feature and I drive only once in 10-14 days (like 10-14 miles). No problems.
The fact that jumper connection is enough to start the car would lead me it is not a battery but some electronics around it. Dealer visit and leave it there for 2-3 days?
